The biggest flaw so far with it is the movie data, all the good movie data sources are expensive and I have literally no money, so I’m using WikiData since it’s free use but it’s very very messy. I’m still working on fixing it, but the movies section is definitely rough and missing a lot of data

No ads and no tracking, I actually use my own open source analytics API I built which collects no personal info, and the site’s analytics are public.
I’m monetizing it using unobtrusive affiliate links, so if someone clicks it and buys on amazon I get a small commission at no cost to users.
So I’ve been working on a side project for a bit that’s shaping up pretty cool and has been fun to build
It’s basically a database of movies, shows, books, and games all in one place with an emphasis on creators and finding their work across mediums.

I hate subscriptions and tracking as a user, so I didn’t want anything to do with them as a dev
As for iCloud syncing I haven’t run into any issues with it so far at all and so far nobody has reported any issues with it. So far it seems to just work
I can’t believe Kojima was in my city 🤯
So I built an RSS Reader app because I wanted something simple. Built for iOS / iPadOS and macOS (coming soon, had to make a minor fix)
native Swift + SwiftUI with iCloud sync, notifications,
$2, no ads, no subscription, no tracking

You can get it on the App Store, currently on sale. Supports iPhone and iPad

A bloomin potato recipe which was imported from the website allrecipes.com into my app C utting Board
The recipe import page on my app
Just launched version 1.2 of my app Cutting Board for iOS
I added recipe importing, so now users can copy and paste a recipe from a website into the app and save it, plus a link to where you found it, and even add all ingredients to your shopping list in one tap

I finally released my first iOS app on the App Store
I made it so I could have recipes, shopping lists, and keep track of what I have on hand in one place
No subscription or ads, and currently it’s on sale for $2.

Screenshot of my in-development iOS app with a recipe page showing an apple pie photo and a fairly dumb recipe I put together in 2 seconds for demonstration Features community tab, recipes tab, pantry tab, shopping tab, and settings tab
Decided to get back into iOS app development and I’m pretty close to finished with this app
I’m combining a recipe book with shopping lists and “what’s in the pantry” management to keep track of what’s on hand
Will also have a community sharing feature and a “cooking mode”

Now I’ve added Docker containerization 🐳

The data entry forms for the app
It’s super simple and I’m just trying it out. Needs a SQL database to be configured but in the future I’ll see if I can make something that can just run and work.
My personal plan with it is to run it on my server in a Docker container
But if this seems useful for you, feel free to use it!
I just made a simple little tool for GameDevs, I wanted to learn some back-end python and SQL, and thought I would make a simple little tool for keeping track of gamedev assets and licenses (I was just using a text doc before…)

I decided to start learning some back-end development for the sake of finding a job and decided to make a little project to help with gamedev asset management. Stuff like licenses, categorizing by type, links to their sources, etc.
Using FastAPI and it definitely lives up to its name
Nothing much new to show, but as an amateur dev this scene transition was kind of an accomplishment! Only took the morning, and I'm feeling ambitious still.
What do I add next? Honest question, as I value feedback.

I don’t have anything to add except to say that this looks amazing, good job!
Hey Godot devs, are there any plugins in particular that you’d recommend for a solo dev making a 2D game?
I haven’t used any plugins so far and I was thinking that it might be a good idea to explore them and see if there’s anything that would greatly save my sanity

Good points, I’ll keep it in mind when I’m working on my own writing for my game also
Got it, then yeah maybe descriptions of their expressions that would be hard for the player to “read” from just a sprite
Or depending on the style of narration if the player’s character’s thoughts are written that could help flesh it out by telling the vibe they get from this character

That cube put in the world for testing
The code editor in Godot showing my code that I’m writing to make this work
Working on making my NPC behavior more interesting by giving them vision with raycasts so they will need to see the player, not simply be psychic and know where the player is at all times

Depending on what the text is for, you could do something like Dark Souls item descriptions which give some extra context and leave a bit for the imagination to fill in
Basically telling both a little of the obvious and then leaving some little clues for the player to interpret
Today I’m working on trying to make the enemy behavior in my game more interesting
I’m thinking I’m going to implement a sort of “last known position” and investigation system when enemies lose sight of the player, which will let you flank them or escape fights

YouTube Studio page showing 1.3k views on my short video about my game
Overnight I managed to get my most views so far on a YouTube short for my gamedev channel ☺️
I’m going to continue to post short clips of my game as I develop it, and later on I want to make longer devlogs and demonstrations

YouTube studio page of a YouTube short at 523 views
Got one of my gamedev YouTube shorts to hit over 500 views for the first time so that’s pretty cool
I decided to start trying to post at least once per day to a TikTok account dedicated to my in-development game, which I’ve decided to name Zone of Alienation ☢️

This feels like it should burn me out quicker but it almost has the opposite effect for me where I can keep forward momentum when I would otherwise just stare at the screen wondering what to do next, even though there’s no shortage of things to do
I feel like solo game development is weirdly the only thing I’ve worked on where balancing so many different “roles” actually feels good to me
When I hit a wall with doing programming, I can switch to level design or art. When I have no creative energy, I switch to the business side of it
