* A car similar to the family car, not actually the same car, my bad.

Perfect for observing your pursuers, yeah. This is a picture of the family car when I was around three years old. So I don't remember that feature. I remember the red leather interior. But I especially miss rear visibility in my Prius these days.

the leap from disappearing the undocumented to disappearing visa holders to disappearing green card holders to disappearing naturalized citizens to disappearing natural born citizens is no leap at all, but a series of tiny steps

block the path

The Indigenous People of North America have decided to go back to calling the Gulf of Mexico, “Chalchiuhtlicueyecatl”. It is what the Nahuatl People originally called it as it is the domain of the goddess Chalchiuhtlicue, who is assoc w/water bodies, including the Gulf of Mexico.

Oh yeah, I wouldn't know about EU laws. I just know email in the US is largely unregulated.

I suspect it isn't illegal, but it's definitely annoying. I have a heck of a time solving those, too.

One thing that I'm increasingly coming to believe is that stories are going to be central to what comes next. Stories of the harm done. Stories of the great things achieved by government in the past. Stories of valor kindness and quotidian simple resistance.

I feel like I've heard the argument that $1 coins are better before... But I can't think of why they're better. Isn't making a coin more expensive than a bill?

Hee. I have a dead tree copy somewhere... Was it mentioned in Snow Crash? I remember it being repeatedly mentioned in The Big U.

If you want to read a new book coming out but don't want to buy it, a great thing you can do is ask your local library to order it. The more requests they get, the more likely they are to acquire it and then lots of people will get to read it who othewise wouldn't.

How to bury your heroes On Amanda Palmer, Neil Gaiman, parasocial relationships, and the broken pieces

This is a terrific read from a friend of mine. Well written and well executed, it's totally worth your time.

I'd probably pick something non-alcoholic, because cheaper. Arnold Palmer or Shirley Temple? Grenadine might stain their clothes pink.
