GOOD NEWS! Researchers have made a HUGE breakthrough towards a UNIVERSAL antiviral. By targeting sugar molecules found on the surface of many viruses that SHARE structural similarities, they identified FOUR compounds that successfully BLOCKED infections from SEVEN different viruses.

I don’t know which is worse; being a perfectionist that stops chasing a passion because you can never achieve your own goal or one who tirelessly chases said goal hoping one day you’ll be enough to mark it completed.

It’s only when the treats are taken away, meals are being skipped, and THEIR freedoms are impacted that society starts to care enough to address it.

Whatever that incident is, it’s resolved and folks get a sigh of relief.

After a century passes, those same incidents start to be murmured again.

So in comes an incident, viral thought or belief, pandemic, a conflict—which was deemed antiquated/eradicated that now starts to come up again.

Folks don’t know how to handle it bc either no one’s teaching it or the folks who benefit from it simply turn a blind eye.

If you’re luckier, you’ll have your mind intake and the energy to speak of yesteryears.

With the natural progression of time and society, especially when looking through history with a 100 year span, the youth don’t relate or listen to the stories of the past.

Some may, but the majority won’t.

When you realize History repeats itself, not just because of apathy or miseducation.

It’s because we don’t have folks who’ve lived through those conflicts, think tanks, and policies still around.

The average human lifespan is about 77 years.

If you’re lucky, you’ll live to 100 years.

Most likely we’ll have more laws limiting the power of a president; redefine when a pardon can be issued, requirements to work within the government, if a criminal can even run (and be elected) as an official, etc. etc.

I feel ya fam. Encouraging folks to get interested in the Mids (& eventually next major election) is pivotal in keeping democracy alive! It’s admirable honestly. I think if progs like Mamdani do well in their respective roles, we still have a chance to beat this and get back on track.

That’s very true! Doomposting gets more likes and eyes on the post so that makes sense why folks do it so much.

We as a society have almost been taught to do that now; we’re interested in finding problems but not putting in the effort to resolve them.

It’s almost a silver lining that the supreme justices that Trump appointed aren’t standing with Trump on every issue. It ain’t much but maybe could give some hope.

If they have to tell us how bad it is then that means we can still turn things around!

I’m with ya there—I remember watching a segment in the early aughts saying we need to have an overhaul of the system.

I think honestly folks are going to come out in droves; they see the impact & Trump’s lied about everything to them. The files, war, cost of living—hopefully we can still fix this.

Yeah I saw a fair amount of people floating that idea around of a revolution but that means that BOTH sides have to play nicely and we’ve only been able to do that once during the Revolutionary War.
