I'm so relieved that the VA special election is over. For some reason, I was receiving all of the reminder/spam texts for myself AND for my kid.

They're just little guys. You can look at them for free and you can look at them up close if you pay for Bird Premium (binoculars or camera). They're just doing behaviors. They will never email you.

What if a man was prevented from having a gun for 1 year from the time he is separated or divorce paperwork is filed? Would this Shreveport family, Cerina Fairfax, & so may others still be alive?
Yes, it's impractical, but we see this play out over & over again. I refuse to believe we can't stop it.

Who owns presidential records? Trump's Justice Department says it's him The Trump administration asserts that a nearly 50-year-old law requiring the preservation of presidential records is unconstitutional. Historians warn important papers could be destroyed.

They belong to US.

Just a thought: How about we stop shaming the poor for buying things that may not be essential, and start shaming the rich for making a profit off things that are essential?

Why would you donate art to an institution that will get rid of it randomly? Where their any donor agreements for the art?

Good story - and reflects how long people with FND often have to wait to get diagnosed

FND should be part of standard medical training in every country so doctors don’t miss this condition

I predict that wire-rimmed and rimless glasses will become popular so people can signal that they are not pervs or narcs.

A colorful illustration of the front of a library with a librarian at the door waving to members of the community outside. A banner over the library reads "FIND YOUR JOY!" Logos for American Library Association and Library Champions in top right. Text below the illustration reads "Celebrate NATIONAL LIBRARY WEEK, April 19-25, 2026"

Why does anyone who isn't Catholic care much about what the pope thinks? He is chosen to lead all the world's Catholics in their faith for life. Trump was elected president of one young nation by about 1/3 of its electorate for 8 years. They are not in competition.

We have so many AI solutions for things that are not problems. People would hate it less if it actually reduced the frictions of our day.

"There’s only taking from the most vulnerable and weak again & again & again. With all of the research on the importance of early literacy–and early access to literature...particularly among the most disadvantaged children–it’s clear government priorities aren’t on the well-being of its citizens."

Heaven forbid anyone get anything for free. So many meager investments would improve the lives of individuals and their communities. The ROI for literary is huge, but legislators and policymakers have this "no free ride" mentality and are so very short-sighted.

"If somebody had a complaint, they should have filed it before construction started" there was never a public comment period.
He added on the shelter & military stuff after ballroom pushback. There's no way there were any drawings or specs for that stuff before he tore out the East Wing. So icky.

There have been so many news pieces on vibeflation where economic folks puzzle about how Americans view the economy as bad when the measures they use don't show a problem.

Some of that vibe is from seeing the rich get richer in an unprecedented way while healthcare and housing become unreachable.

Being put in a position where you have to wake folks up stinks. I feel fortunate that my library allows sleeping. We do check in with people who appear to be having health issues.

If the community doesn't want people without homes to sleep in the library, it should provide them with housing.

I haven't been able to go on my walk at work 2x this week because of interactions with a belligerent person. I just don't want to deal with a confrontation on the sidewalk alone.
