systemic disinvestment is a synonym for pillaging, and that's what happened to places that actually get attention in that city. After the disinvestment came the venture capital and the opportunistic gentrification that passes private investment off as a public good. I'll never forgive them.
what had been, for me, as a child, the most exciting place on earth. Underneath what was the second tallest building in the country is an all but abandoned central station that still services rail lines that run for no one, not because people abandoned the lines but the reverse. Decades of
All I want is infrastructure. That's all I want. Trains. Busses. Schools. Medicine. These basic necessities are instead treated as utterly utopian and outlandish. I can't express how devastating it was to be back in Cleveland and to take the red line from the airport to Tower City, the ruins of

every single one of these people is the same. oh, you mean there's no there there? under the house of cards that we've all been saying is only good at making our environment and our thinking capacities demonstrably worse? how strange. only the press treats AI credulously.
the way everyone is so frayed is palpable everywhere, but especially in public zones like airports. lashing out and fragile, absolutely ready to catch fire. many have been forgetting/foregoing the rules of respectful public interaction for a while, but in the end times things matter even less.

Just a reminder, because it’s easy to forget, there are actually 45 democratic senators and 213 democratic representatives in the House, and somehow none of them have even an idea - not even an effort, an attempt - to prevent the president from murdering thousands and crashing the world economy.
Guitarist Gregory Uhlmann discusses 'Extra Stars,' a five-year collection of pieces inspired by stargazing in the California desert, and the Los Angeles musical community threaded through it. The Tonearm's Sam Bradley peers through the clouds.

Also IF IT IS FRONT PAGE NEWS THAT WE ARE AT WAR WITH IRAN, it is ALSO FRONT PAGE NEWS THAT THE PEOPLE WHO TOOK US TO IRAN ARE TALKING LIKE THIS.
The war does not exist in a separate, more serious universe than its leaders! This is the guy who decides if it happens and how many people die!

Although the scientific community first acknowledged the existence of #LongCOVID in late 2020, & the disability burden of Long COVID lies between that of Alzheimer’s & asthma - in the US, Long COVID received just 14% of its disability commensurate funding:

Yeah, the genres are important for sure! It has a "feeling" and a sound. Plus playing brushes is much easier with it. I just view it as a special effect and am always blown away when (some of the best) musicians make it their whole approach.

like, you don't have to do that. nobody is forcing you. to each their own, but i've never heard a good argument for it. in terms of pure physics, it makes NO sense. it's an objective handicap.
annual comment, but i truly can't believe there are drummers out there in the year of our lord 2026 learning/teaching traditional grip, which is not to say that it doesn't work; it obviously works. but it was invented for an antiquated purpose and makes everything wildly more difficult for no reason

The meme of Principal Skinner: in the top panel he looks down with hand on chin considering an idea: “Have the bloated admin salaries and the expensive consultants been the problem the whole time?” Bottom image: he looks up and beyond the frame with more confidence: “No…no, it must be the humanities programs.”
