This immediately supercharges University of Denver's art collection, and gives Denver Art Museum an excuse to clear up some warehouse space. All without any money being exchanged.
Good catch!
Haha, indeed. "Play the hits!" I yell, clutching my friend's mixtape of them from the late '90s that first got me going.
Imagine what $15 million could do to any indie venue or promoter in Denver. Transformative. But no firepits at the hi-dive, I think.
“Eating up loved broadcast stations is a cop-out to actual innovation and catering to your audience," Angelica Kalika, who teaches journalism at the University of Colorado Boulder, tells @johnwenzel.bsky.social. "Everyone is scrambling and taking advantage of an almost regulation-free FCC.”
I think so. I don't notice it on my DualSense in any other game except Minecraft, but maybe there's some kind of idle auto-pan there.
“War itself is, of course, a form of madness. It’s hardly a civilized pursuit. It’s amazing how we spend so much time inventing devices to kill each other and so little time working on how to achieve peace.”
~Walter Cronkite.

Calhoun?
ICYMI #Denverse Magazine is one of the city's newest and already-best publications. Here's my ode to its literate, long form, earnest and funny and heartening and perspective-shifting original work.
Notably (and to my heart) they're resolutely anti-AI and pro-print. More for @denverpost.com
Among a multitude no doubt!
Get out of my brain
Not blasphemous at all (at least to me). They stopped being a sacred cow when the dads who made them started retiring and having grandkids.
Good get!
I talked to a former Westword music editor (Laura Bond), writer (Bree Davies) and luminaries like former Denver Post editor Greg Moore and U.S. Sen. John Hickenlooper about Patty's brilliance. Hard to believe this.
😂
I get hackly when I see something like August or November NOT abbreviated
As one of the most ambitious film projects in state history, the #CO150 Film Fest is looking to collect 150 films set or shot in -- or starring CO folks -- for statewide screenings at 30 different venues.
Details, including early titles, for @denverpost.com
This post makes my ink-stained wretchedness happy
You didn't used to have to, anyway
The easier to surveil you with, my dear
I spent a good amount of time at this place's former, scuzzy, chock-with-PBRs incarnation, RockBar. Hard to believe it's the same building, given how dingy RockBar was. Did I mention it was scuzzy?
Colorado AG Phil Weiser, who's vying for governor, told me the DOJ settlement was a back-room, politically biased travesty and is pushing forward with a trial that includes 30 other states AGs to hold Live Nation and Ticketmaster to account.
Will it work this time, when so many others have failed?
I've known and been a fan of #TroyWalker for most of my adult life, so seeing him find success in L.A. (including Emmy nominations) is deeply heartening.
He's got new standup album (his first, recorded at Comedy Works), staff gig at "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" and more on tap. Check it @denverpost.com
As is often the case in these cartoonishly villainous days, it's generally worse and meaner than I even thought:
"Visceral no" sounds about right. Fellow guest and comedian Miriam Morena told me on City Cast that she saw them for less than 1/10th of that during an early Denver visit. Ugh.
Thanks to @citycastdenver.bsky.social for having me on to talk about the dueling Denver music fests in July, the Ford Amphitheater noise-lawsuit drama, and what it means when Gorillaz tix cost $500.

I prefer a bumpier, more bricked-over fireplace but that's just me
I will forever love #ElijahWood for many reasons, including signing Apples in Stereo to his label and standing up to eternal chode Jared Leto (Google it). Good news then that he just added a DJ gig to his Denver stop for Fan Expo.
