Like as an adult collector, I always try to leave something behind for others especially when its a community that often has kids involved, so to see other people be so genuinely greedy makes me sick especially because of quite literally the mind boggling markups!

I only collect pokemon cards in passing now due to scalpers - it's just not worth it, especially to kids.

Scalping in general is outta control - in some other communities that I collect, I've seen issues of parents literally not being able to get or even find anything for their kids as a result.

The cat character shows a work in progress drawing of a cat face in which the fur on the sides of the face go in different directions. I find it extremely interesting that Claude including aspects like Claude code went down at the same time, & being that a good portion of the site is made with said code that I wouldn't be surprised it had a hand in it

I don't believe it was a DDoS. Claude was down at the same time, and considering the staff and former CEO have been super open that bsky is made primarily with Claude code, which was affected by Claude being down.

I suspect that's the true reason, especially considering its barely functional rn.

It also explains why they struggle to fix it.

I'm sure some have the knowledge to fix it but I would imagine it's similar to having to clean up someone else's mess and not even knowing why the hell they did certain things the way they did.

But what do we know, gen ai slop is the future! /s 🙄

According to the previous CEO - bsky was made via ai vibe coding, and the staff are hardcore supporters of gen ai; so I don't see it stopping anytime soon unfortunately even if the site is completely unusable.

Gen ai is such a blight on everything

- Can't trust anything (photos, video, art, papers, books, etc)
- It steals jobs it can't even do properly
- Devastates communities (online & IRL)
- Destroys the environment
- Creates CSAM, deep fakes, & revenge porn
- & more..
