Progress on my s&box game! 🛩️
Impressed on how solid of a game engine it already feels. There's really neat stuff that others need to implement asap, like just hitting F6 to record footage...

A character with hoodie, jeans and sunglasses standing on a skateboard. The animation is broken. The legs and arms are twisted and the board points in the wrong direction.
I guess my new rig doesnt like my old animations.

Recreated the rig of my godot character from scratch.
The board rig is now created through the rigify metarig too. On the previous rig i created the board rig by hand.
I hope that it still works with the old animation actions, but i expect the worst.

It copies the global position of the sphere. It is in the exact same position.
The car is represented by a sphere that rolls across the surface. Player inputs apply forces to the sphere.
The visual car model follows this sphere. The acceleration direction is defined by the orientation of this model. Turning is only allowed above a specific velocity threshold.

I wanted to do a 'Micro Machines' Clone. I played it a lot on my Amiga 500.
I'll be at GodotCon in Amsterdam and I'm bringing goodiebags! Inside is a keychain, sticker, button, an exclusive set of game assets and some candy (I'll be buying later, of course). I'll be handing them out for free 🎁
Anxiety kicks in.
The wiggle motion of the car is quite simple.
I have a node 3d which is above the sphere. The nodes location is interpolated with a lerp. The lerp has a overshoot mechanic implemented.
The up vector of the visual car body points to this location.

First test with outlines in Godot. Outline meshes are generated with geometrynodes and exported together with the basemesh in the gltf-format.

Baking maps with ucupaint in blender. All maps will be channelpacked to reduce the projectsize in godot.
Final textures will be:
1. Normals
2. ORM (Occlusion, Roughness, Metalness)
