Lived there for ~3 years, if thats remotely helpful.
Just finishing driving back home from California (images related), but plenty of Coog news to chew on when I’m settled back home.
How your email finds me
Yeah 6’6” and already a standout low major D1 defensive big as a frosh, sign me up
Coach Mitchell is cooking
UH had 2 wins over teams who finished in the RPI top 30 in all of the 2024-25 season, and could have as many as 5 this season… and you’re still dead last in the Big 12 standings and an underdog to even qualify for the conference postseason.
Happy for the guys on the team, but this actually pisses me off. Good enough to beat UT-Austin (RPI #2), Bama (#4), WVU (#24), Wake (#25), and BC (#27)… nearly all away from Houston. Yet, 2-10 in home weekend series against teams with a pulse.
I suspect there'll be a lot of forthcoming additions here, but here's our first stab at Houston Cougar women's basketball scholarship grid.
And I realize I never updated the Cougar MBB scholarship grid for the addition of Braden East earlier this week, so here ya go.
Sounds like there's some smoke to UT-Austin transfer F Justice Carlton rejoining her sister (incoming frosh Madison) with the Coogs. Would be a great add, Carlton avg'd 8.5 pts and 4.0 rebounds per game in 19.3 mins/game and played a bunch in 24-25 as a frosh.

Yeah, I’d have a hard time justifying that
Funny enough I flew them to the Peach Bowl and everything was fine.
Maybe an international guy? Feel like most US HS guys, even lower rated, have signed by now.
Like Hadnot, East played prep basketball in the Houston area, specifically at Stafford HS on the SW side. Solid efficiency numbers (53.3% on 2 pters) for being a higher usage big man.
Absurdly deep big man group now w/Tugler, blue chip frosh Arafan Diane, Delrecco Gillespie, & now East.
Like we expected, big man Braden East from Lamar commits to the Coogs today! East averaged 12.8 pts and 9.1 rebounds for the Cardinals this past season as a sophomore. Was also 2nd nationally in D1 in defensive rebounding % (per KenPom) and 68th in offensive rebounding %.
Also, made the argument during this episode at the very end that the most humane thing UH could do right now is fire Todd Whitting with a month left in the season. Anyone whos paying attention (few of us left) knows that this team is a long shot to even make the B12 tournament.

Noah Reynolds IIRC had a good game against us at Fertitta in 24-25

At this moment here's what the scholarship grid looks like. Not much long term change, but definitely starting to get a clear idea what the 26-27 lineup/rotation will be.
