Super interesting, and as always very clearly and elegantly visualised!

And also I've done a multi-country choice experiment with them, I think their activities in 90 countries is a strong point

This is a nice addition, I should have elaborated on this myself :) I also only have experience with self-programmed surveys.

I've used interlocked quota for age group and gender, and an additional quotum for education level, and I didn't have issues with oversampling of university graduates

Thanks to the Pieter Dedert Fund, a named fund within Erasmus Trustfonds, for the generous funding of the data collection!
Next on our list is to write a more policy-oriented article, and hopefully to conduct a follow-up study in which we explore the relation between preferences and personal traits

Also, most respondents supported policy action to prevent skin cancer. This held even more so after completing the DCE, reducing the differences in support between countries.

We find that each of the policy measures and outcomes influenced respondents’ choices, most of all the cost attribute. From the policy measures, information campaigns and a price reduction of sunscreen were most favoured, while the prohibition of solar beds and solar studios were least preferred.

But should the government play a role in this? And if so, how? In this study, we study public preferences for collective skin cancer prevention policies in AT, NL and ES using a DCE. 2,442 respondents were asked to choose 12 times between two different policy packages

While enjoying the sun today, think of the following: 1 out of 3 cancer diagnoses worldwide concerns skin cancer (in the Netherlands even > 1 out of 2). Skin cancer incidence is increasing rapidly, because of which some even speak of an epidemic. The good news is: most cases can be prevented!

Sun's out, but what about ... skin cancer prevention? New paper "Public preferences for skin cancer prevention policies: a discrete choice experiment in three European countries" published in Social Science & Medicine, with Niek Mouter and @jobvanexel.bsky.social. A 🧡

The dissertation, that is, let's not jump to conclusions. But also, the defence is too far away to be worrying about πŸ˜‡

What's a better way to start the post-dissertation life than by visiting Paris?! For a conference on the value of aging & long-term care policies with a great program. And what place can beat this conference room, conference building, and hotel-conference walk straight through a palace garden?
