I just signed a petition to stop the rollout of facial recognition surveillance in the UK.
The Government and shops are scanning us without clear laws in place, using our faces like barcodes.
It feels really invasive. Can you take 30 seconds to sign it too? you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/st...

So let’s be clear: this type of corporate bullying is designed to rob us of our rights and freedoms.
But we will not be silenced.

I guess that's me excluded from going to the states anytime soon with the new regulations on giving details of all social media
Here we go again. Trump has told the UK that if we want a UK-US tech deal, we need to buy chlorinated chicken from the US! 🤢🐔 How dare he try and impose poor food standards in Britain. Sign the petition to keep chlorine-washed chicken off our shelves: 38d.gs/cc-df

A crypto investor just donated £9 million to the Reform Party. Right now, billionaires can pour unlimited money into our elections, effectively buying our democracy. Think that's wrong? Add your name to call for a cap on donations today: you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/ta...

Labour peer Alf Dubs, who arrived in the UK on the Kindertransport, tells @nicolakellywrites.bsky.social that he is deeply disappointed in Shabana Mahmood and Keir Starmer's betrayal of child refugees

Also the Romans literally had a welfare system that included cash transfers for poor children. (And subsidised grain for low income workers...).
She also says spending on welfare is unchristian

The government is pushing forward with something that could change life in Britain forever - a mandatory digital ID scheme. You'll need it to prove who you are, to work, to access services, to be trusted. Right now, Starmer’s plans are still in development. Sign up now 38d.gs/0h2c
Excellent article by @bilson.org.uk & Drayak about the urgent need to withdraw the dangerous @rcpch.bsky.social FII guidance
⚠️Instead of support for complex care the system is primed for suspicion
The need for co-produced evidence based frameworks is vital

A new law could give millions of us better rights at work, but corporate lobbyists & politicians are trying to gut it. Tell the Government: protect workers, not profits!

Great Yarmouth is set to host the biggest neo-nazi music festival in over a decade. The Home Office has the power to block entry of overseas bands, which will scupper the promoters plans. But they won’t act unless we demand it. Email the Home Office now: hopenothate.org.uk/2025/08/28/g...
This is an important set of questions and the lack of services show the problems of short term thinking that plague the child protection system
I totally agree
Understanding Parent Blame edited by Luke Clements and Ana Laura Aiello
Timely and important book that covers/uncovers the difficulties/trauma experienced by families when they are blamed for the illnesses/disabilities of their children. Plenty of coverage of false FII allegations. Parents of children failed by the SEND system will find the content all too familiar.
Sadly one of many such stories
Another article in the @thetimes.com on the awful impact of a false suspicion of fii on a dying young woman. Heartbreaking

Article in Sunday Times looking at miscarriages of justice due to misidentification of fii. Covers my research showing no deaths contrary to guidance suggesting high mortality rates
