Captain Pike's expansive ready room aboard the USS Enterprise. Production Designer Jonathan Lee said the large Enterprise interiors built for STRANGE NEW WORLDS allowed for easier filming: "We didn’t want the sets to feel small because you would always be taking the walls of the set out to fit the cameras, which slows down production. Which was great for me because I could make the sets quite expansive.”

View looking down a corridor aboard the USS Enterprise. Production Designer Jonathan Lee explained that some of STRANGE NEW WORLDS' Enterprise interiors were designed imagining what the original Enterprise may have looked like beneath its more modest set design: "Our corridors look very different from TOS. That’s where we began to get our ethos of our new ship. Something I wanted to do from the very beginning was expose the structure of the ship and where possible expose the technology. In the sixties, they had a lot of blank grey walls and it reminded me of houses in the fifties where you’d see Victorian houses with all the Victorian detailing covered up. So what would happen if you took off those grey walls in TOS?"

President Trump’s administration rocked the American research enterprise over the last year with disruptions and changes to the historically reliable stream of federal funding that fueled it.

LOL a few decades late but this is begging to be memed. Why does he look so awkward. 😭

There's a tiny detail in the Atlantic story that reveals how books on pressing news really come together. Reporters don't hold their most important stories for personal gain, the way everyone on Bluesky thinks.
This is glaringly obvious to everyone except for the faces of corporate media, who desperately want to walk a red carpet

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton filed a lawsuit against ActBlue, alleging that the Democratic fundraising platform misled Congress and the public about its donation-vetting process — increasing pressure on the platform ahead of midterm elections.
Just to point out the obvious: This could genuinely be dangerous to many people. Not just the applicants, but their friends and families, who may have thought a private social account was a safe place to criticize their own government or talk about being gay, say.
This is a really important point. It’s become clear that many of the conservative justices are as terminally Fox-brained as any garden variety red-hatted rube.

Kate Mulgrew stands at her mark on the ISS Voyager bridge set during filming of "Caretaker". According to Mulgrew, Patrick Stewart told her at the beginning of VOYAGER that being the lead of a STAR TREK series would be difficult but ultimately rewarding: "The first week we were doing VOYAGER, Patrick said to me, 'If you get through this show' – I guess that was debatable, my getting through it – 'you will be very proud.' I said, 'Are you?' He said, 'Enormously.'"

i think this speaks to the poisonous interaction between the shadow docket and the Fox News Alternate Universe. if SCOTUS is making equity rulings without briefing or arguments by the parties, they are deciding cases based on *what they have already heard from the media about the balance of harms*
