my hand holding 2 copies of the English version of I'll Become a Villainess Who Goes Down in History light novels. a torbie cat sits judgmentally behind.
wake up babe, the newest advance copies are here

I make a "please help me" sort of smile while my crazy torbie cat stands on my headboard behind me, chomping on my lampshade.
Danica gets very excited (and destructive) whenever she hears a soprano singing
a white woman fresh from the shower in glasses on the verge of laughing as a torbie cat tilts her head coquettishly at the camera up very close and partially out of frame.
the perfect cat selfie doesn't ex--
blurred picture of a big fat tabby cat looking pitifully up at the camera by some stairs with mangled carpet.
nothing tests my love more than him squawking in my face at 7:30am when I have a migraine
a bear vacuuming a floor as a japanese salaryman looks on in terror
found out about the manga kuma gurashi which is like those ones where a manic pixie dream girl comes into a salaryman's life and starts doing all his domestic chores for him to heal his heart except in this one it's a realistically drawn bear and the salaryman is terrified on every single page
When a cat is sleepin' real hard and you pet her and she makes a little "activation noise" rt if you agree
i think i missed my window to be Hot White Chick Who Shitposts For a Living
"if you don't occasionally miss a flight that means--"

I'm not sure if it's an issue of law, rather, JP artists/corporations being very possessive with their IP (which is fair, people are allowed to do that). they're just very indiscriminate about it.
like, I don't even care if it's demonetized. I'll take that hit so I can include the 7-second clips of the song to better illustrate what I'm teaching.
it's the blocking of the video that just seems...pointlessly mean? like, HOW am I hurting sales? it's broken up clips of the not-complete song.
text from youtube: "visibility: partially blocked. Restrictions: copyright +1 more."
welp.
video will be up later than anticipated.
I REALLY wish Japan wasn't so strict about something that's clearly fair use.
I broke a song into clips no longer than 8 seconds, buffered with SEVERAL MINUTES of me analyzing the lyrics.
If anything, I might inspire people to check out the song.
But yeah, if you didn't know, I have a YT channel with hundreds of art related videos that are all very good but just underperformed. If you want some stuff to put on in the background or want to watch art tutorials, I prob won't add new things, but you have my backlog :)
a woman in her 30s sitting at a table on stage playing with a plushie of Tasuki from Fushigi Yuugi with some other dolls and a water bottle by her feet.
as a kid, I was ashamed to admit I played with dolls. in my 30s, I healed my inner child by playing with dolls for an audience.
in my teens and 20s, I was ashamed to admit I wrote novels. in my 40s, I'm healing my inner-cringey YA self by publishing.
Be the Cringe you want to see in the world.

a hot middle-aged white woman in a cleavage-exposing pink knit top wearing an amethyst necklace on a white gold chain, wearing glasses, light makeup, and her long brown hair is in twin-tails.

A bunch of artists will lose work, the flow and immersion for the reader is ruined, the mangaka's vision is butchered...and they'll probably raise the price on consumers anyway.
but at least a corporation made more money π
Real talk, 10 years ago, I didn't even know lettering was a job (and an artform), let alone how important good lettering is in comics.
Lettering is one of those aspects of localization that is easy to forget about if it's good, but bad lettering can completely ruin your immersion.

reworking this scene a little with two of the main characters getting to know each other and it's so delightfully autistic now
I hear indie coffee shops are a thing
I hear theyβre pretty good too
i like it when people are weird (good) and not when people are weird (derogatory)

this morning, mamdaniβs team got in touch with me to float a new tax proposal: if your net worth exceeds $5 million and you dress badly, youβll be hit with a 10% annual levy for βvisual pollution.β i would be in charge of deciding if the outfits are bad.
