Republicans are the minority. And you know what we do to minorities in America, right?

Deport them or put them in jail.

Zohran Mamdani’s campaign is giving me life. Democrats take note. People don’t want Democrats. They want Democratic Socialists.

And make no mistake, this is a “them or us” situation already.

I’m reminded that in every war regular people went from the idea that “no, killing is not an acceptable form of behavior”
to
“They’ve chosen to make this an ‘It’s them or us” situation so

If you make the existence of groups of people something worth killing over, how should those people react?

General: We don’t take an oath to a king.
We don’t take an oath to a tyrant.
We don’t take an oath to a dictator.
We don’t take an oath to a wannabe dictator.

ICE Recruit: Wait…

You took an Oath?

People will stop being pleased.

Fascist control is not broken by democratic processes. When does the resistance start pushing back with real force?

It’s been too long. I’ll have to start sharing library jokes again. It’s long overdue.

There was a point in every war where regular people decided en masse that the line had been crossed and took up arms against whoever else still had arms.

I think about that a lot lately for no apparent reason.

Love all the music festivals happening.

In a capitalist society,
The poor are the enemy.
Even to themselves.

Re: Dystopia:
anyone else see the ads for a game in the style of economic “tycoon” style games where you have to create your own thing and make it profitable. Trains, zoos, cities, small businesses, etc.

Well the new thing to be a tycoon of is

Prisons…
What the actual fuck.

Thematically speaking, the most important thing Terry Pratchett taught me was the concept of militant decency. The idea that you can look at the world and its flaws and its injustices and its cruelties and get deeply, intensely angry, and that you can turn that into energy for doing the right thing and making the world a better place. He taught me that the anger itself is not the part I should be fighting. Nobody in my life ever said that before.

This is a good highlight of the horrible dangers of climate change. The mayor of Blatten is on record as saying, “We will rebuild.” An endeavor for which I honestly wish them the best, but I do have one suggestion. This might be a good chance to rename the town of Blatten to the town of Flatten.

So yesterday a glacier in Switzerland collapsed and engulfed 90% of the town of Blatten. This tragedy could have been much worse though. There is only one person missing as the town and livestock had all been evacuated thankfully about a month ago because they listened to their scientists. 1/2🧵
