That's fair and appreciate it. The way I describe the fandom is "higher highs but lower lows" Definitely had my experiences that weren't great (people love pushing boundaries 😓).

I tend to try to keep things light and positive on socials, but it's good to talk about these things every so often.

The optimist in me wants to think that the solitary struggle made me that much stronger for overcoming it on my own, and I sincerely hope it's the case for you too.

I've been lucky in the fandom, for one of the first times in my life I really do feel valued and appreciated by people. I hit a major roadbump last year. I was in a pretty isolated place, with no one really to talk to or to get support from for months. Things have gotten much better this year.

That's true, and I'm sorry you haven't received the support everyone deserves. FWIW, I've gone through A LOT of my pre-furry life alone, very little support from family and friends, so I get it, and I hope I don't come off as speaking from a place of privilege.

Not really sure why I’m writing all this. I’ve been doing some thinking lately about my place in the fandom. I know I’m not the typical furry - I’m Korean American, old, bi, ace/demi. Visibility and representation are good things, so embrace who you are and spread kindness. 💙

Furries are generally very supportive and that’s really helped me love myself. I know I’ll never be super lean, I just love food too much. But all the kind words over the years have helped me, both physically and mentally. I really feel like my life is finally on the right track.

It’s kinda funny, me just not too long ago would be way too self conscious to post a pic of myself like this. It’s been really fun to see my fitness journey over the past few years. But I owe a lot to the fandom too…
