And I am not sure that they’re wrong to think that

The US budget has been trending this way forever but the new proposed budget takes 80% of your federal income tax and gives it to men with guns -- the Pentagon, weapons contractors, ICE agents, veterans of war.
A society made by the use of fear and force.
A people disgusted and resisting.
The fact that nobody seriously believes there is an institution in this country that will check the president—that we’re all just sitting here hoping that he gets distracted and fails to follow through on his genocidal threats—is the most damning indictment of our political system I’ve seen yet.
Sharif University in Tehran was just bombed
Founded in 1965, it is one the most elite science and engineering institutions in the world. Alumni include the mathematician Maryam Mirzakhani, first woman to win the Fields Medal
Here is the list of other alumni

The answer is "yes," as shown even before the Iran war by Operation Rough Rider and Operation Southern Spear. In April 2025, the military gladly blew up Ras Issa fuel port and Saada migrant detention center, and from September–December 2025 killed 87 people in strikes on 23 civilian vessels.
When facing bad faith and nasty attacks, one should always take the extra step to give your attackers anonymity
When people say “64% of Israelis agree that there are no innocents in Gaza,” Dems need to correct to “64% of people sharing Netanyahu’s nationality agree that there are no innocents in Gaza”

International Women's Day is 23 hours this year. Women only get 96% of a day
There's something deeply obscene and broken about the fact that Donald Trump and Pete Hegseth are bombing elementary schools in an illegal war of aggression, and there's still a sense among the opposition that it has to be explained in terms of gas prices in order to get American voters to care.
“during a war”
“Harris also did not expose any daylight between herself and Biden on the Middle East when asked directly if she would be doing anything differently, including limiting arm sales to Israel”

This is recent, so there’s more emphasis on the possibility (!) of legal restrictions.
Some background from 2019: www.972mag.com/j-street-aid...
It’s still on their website

Israel has not “dragged the United Stares into war.”
An elite faction of the United States that identifies intensely with the interests of Israel has, with the complaisance of other factions, launched an aggressive war.
Israel figures heavily into Washington’s motives but the difference matters.
Also, wasn’t France the main support for Israel’s nuclear program?
No, he doesn’t
She supported unconditionally arming the genocide
J Street has long supported the same amount of unconditional arms to Israel as AIPAC. Until very recently, which presents questions about their commitment.
Do we think we forgot what Biden was supporting and aiding less than two years ago? Do you think the current horror is somehow self-evidently worse?
I’m old enough to remember when our leaders came up with semi-coherent arguments to start wars. You could refute the arguments and at least feel like there was a chance you might persuade someone.
It wasn’t good, but this is worse. . . .
I'm already sick of "It's all a distraction from Epstein" replies. This regime is killing innocent people because our leaders are all power-hungry tyrants and war profiteers. When you say it's "just a distraction" you minimize the gravity of what's happening and the lives lost.
100%. Came here to say this.
A lot of Trump’s support came from “neither left nor right” types who think of themselves as freethinkers and get lured in by Greenwald types
article 8bis of the rome statute of the international criminal court
continuation of article 8bis
posting, once again, the well-established definition of the crime of aggression in the rome statute for the ICC
What's missing? The public. Decisions about whether AI can surveil American citizens or autonomously deploy lethal force are being settled in a contract dispute. No Congress. No democratic deliberation. No accountability. We've outsourced questions about the use of force to a corporate negotiation.

When I first looked at your post, I thought you were endorsing Harper’s legitimate point: that Harris failed to clarify the stakes and call out Trump’s BS “peace” talk.
The comments are reading it like “oh, he’s so dumb he wanted Harris to do more when Trump is so awful.” Which makes no sense
I think a lot of us supporting these reforms believe both parties suck. Instant runoff is fine, but other reforms do more: equal ballot access, multi-member districts, weighted voting, and ideally proportional representation
Rev. Jesse Jackson's "I *am* somebody..." remains one of the all-time great pieces of 20th century rhetoric / agitprop
And he could deliver it at a Black separatist meeting, the Democratic National Convention, or on god-blessed Sesame Street (see below 🥹)
