This is a very good paper and you should all read it. However, to this part, I want to reply with Arthur Spirling: "Open generative AI models are a way forward for science" (doi.org/10.1038/d415...).

Seriously, please don't default to sending students and other researchers to closed models.

Nick Vivyan, Chris Hanretty (@chanret.bsky.social) and I have a new book out: “Idiosyncratic Issue Opinion and Political Choice”. The core of the book is making the argument that citizens’ views about political issues neither reduce to an ideological orientation nor to a lack of substance. (1/10)

Europe is chasing the wrong fix for its growth crisis The continent’s old growth model no longer works in today’s world. And EU leaders need a plan that matches the scale of this shift.

OPINION: As the current consensus goes, Europe has smothered itself in unnecessary regulation, and growth will return once red tape is cut.

This agenda is bound to disappoint.

I was interviewed for a podcast!

I talked with Wendo King'ang'i about (large) language models and opinion mining. It was recorded some time ago, so my affiliation is old, but the topic is still relevant, and I tried to make it as accessible as I could.

Eighty-one years ago today, over 7,000 prisoners of the German Nazi camp #Auschwitz, including some 700 children, were liberated by the soldiers of the Soviet Army.

1,689 days of murder, pain, suffering, and humiliation were over.
Today, we all remember. We must keep remembering.
