Love to these people and to this city.

so, in the course of a month, the New York Times reassigned four veteran critics, the Washington Post’s film critic took a buyout, Vanity Fair decided it doesn’t need a film critic at all, and the Associated Press got rid of book criticism altogether?

Cool.

I'd love if every media org that runs a story, interview, op-ed on Rudin ALSO meaningfully reaches out to the many, many hundreds of people Rudin abused & damaged to ask them what amends were made to them by him, how they feel about his return & what they think has or hasn't changed in the industry

Neon Acquires ‘Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie’ Neon has acquired the rights to 'Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie.'

This was one of my absolute favorite movies out of SXSW -- and Neon is one of the few studios that will give it the care and handling -- and theatrical distribution(!) that it deserves.

I can't wait for people to discover this film.

The six gorgeous, big-hearted musical numbers in the film — especially the centerpiece number — are joyful, exhilarating celebrations. A special film from the director of VAST OF NIGHT.

I haven’t seen a life affirming, exuberant film like THE RIVALS OF AMZIAH KING in a long time. Matthew McConaughey and newcomer Angelina LookingGlass lead this story about family, beekeeping, honor and legacy.

It's always deeply appreciated when you see something that makes you think, "I've genuinely never seen anything that even reminds me of this." youtu.be/vDxYQd51Xuk?...

I welcomed 2025 in by booking our Toronto hotel for TIFF in September. Can’t wait to see what the 50th edition of the fest looks like.

My entire relationship to series television has now distilled itself to one sentence: If I can't remember what happened last season, you took too long.

Our first day in Quebec for Thanksgiving. The city was seemingly made in a lab to accommodate Christmas decor. We’re impressed with the architecture wherever we go.

I would honestly rather have eight power-crazed Democratic politicians announce for 2028 and start running unbearable noisy campaigns TODAY than read one more "What the Democrats did wrong/must stop doing/don't understand/need to do" op-ed from a paid manufacturer of opinion.

Bluesky is officially “open” now (no more invites). So just a reminder to not engage with trolls and bad actors, there is no algorithm here to promote or spread them, replying to them is what puts them on everybody’s timelines. So block and give no oxygen.

Weirdly devastated by the Paul Reubens death news. Actual genius who didn't get reappraised in time. I hope people rewatch all of it and see his show and movies are still from a future we haven't seen yet.

And sure, tech platforms aren’t the only place you’ll find Trump repeating his old election lies. Fox News was nearly sued out of existence for the whoppers that aired on its network, and more recently CNN hosted a town hall with the president in which the accompanying corrections for his ravings ran into the thousands of words.

But it’s one thing to host a single ill-considered town hall in the name of ratings, and another to volunteer to serve in perpetuity as a digital library for all the election lies that candidates and their surrogates see fit to upload. YouTube’s decision represents a massive in-kind donation of storage and bandwidth to the same forces that are attempting to ban video platforms and who recently almost eliminated the Section 230 protections that YouTube depends on.

I wrote about how YouTube, Facebook and Twitter collectively gave up on removing lies about the 2020 election — and what that means for 2024
