I was there after a faith vigil for all the people who have been killed by ICE the day before Alex Pretti was executed and I watched an ICE agent hit a protester with their SUV and drive off.

Tomorrow, on Friday, Jan 30, high school students from around the region are walking out of class starting at 10:30am, heading to the west steps of the Capitol, and then marching to the John Moss Federal building at 650 Capitol Mall where ICE has been abuducting people.

Don’t be too alarmed. The one truth about fascists is that they are cowards. When they see all of us out on the streets, they will stay home collecting our tax dollars and plotting how they’re going to brutalize more of our neighbors tomorrow. These actions are heartbeats. Not ends. Keep going.

Some people will say you should avoid bringing electronic devices with you. That’s probably a good idea, but being able to record in real time is also very important. Whatever you do, make sure the people around you know each other‘s full names, dates of birth, and emergency contact information.

Today we’re having ICE OUT actions across the country. It’s important to take care of ourselves to keep taking care of our community. When you go, make sure friends and family know where you’re going. Have a plan for how you’ll get there and how you’ll get back. Drink water and wear sunscreen :)
