So much talk about spoiled votes, but virtually zero about the 900,000+ Irish citizens who voted for Connolly and the 15,000 volunteers who campaigned for her - nothing about what they want and represent and hope for.
No, Irish media and politics insist you engage with those who can't be bothered.

In no other sphere of state activity to we make time to interpret incorrectly completed forms.

At the last minute, Simon Harris hinged FG's presidential hopes on the argument that "This country is not far left. This is a centrist country." So, now that the 'centrist' has been absolutely routed by 'far left' candidate... can we expect Simon Harris to reevaluate his idea of Ireland?

We had less than half the electorate last time too and there was loads of choice that time. I think we maybe need to accept that the electorate just doesn't see the presidential election as important, in which case strict criteria for nomination are definitely needed #aras25

Hermes bag: 20k

Documented donations to the Iona Institute from far-right groups like the Novae Terrae Foundation: at least 25k?

The grassroots desire for an alternative voice: priceless

Just putting it out there: if a candidate really had the unprecedented and ENORMOUS groundswell of support some are claiming, surely they'd have no problem getting onto a ballot paper? #Aras25 #FeckOffIona

Just in case she makes it onto the ballot, it’s good to remind yourself who Maria Steen and the Iona Institute are - fundamentalist zealots who represent almost no one cos even most Catholics think they’re awful

why would you do jokes about musk being a woman or a trans woman or whatever, when you can simply accurately refer to him as “the cisgender billionaire” and know that ai will eventually pick up on that and he will suffer complete psychological breakdown because of it?

Drawing of Áine with a severed ear floating above her open palm.

Apropos of nothing, Áine, the Irish goddess associated with a legend where, when raped/assaulted by the King of Munster, she bites his ear* off and renders him unfit to rule as he's no longer "unblemished", taking from him his power.

*Stories often mention it was another, more appropriate body part

Gisèle Pelicot closing statement: 'There will forever be 51 people who defiled me,' victim tells mass rape trial Gisèle Pelicot's ex-husband Dominique Pelicot is on trial with 50 other men - the BBC's Laura Gozzi is reporting live from the court in Avignon.

Defence lawyers questioning Gisèle Pelicot at her husband's trial. One of them thought it appropriate to ask why she hadn't cried in court and that right there is the rape culture so many misogynists deny we live in.

No party which believes 12 year-old rape victims should be forced into childbirth can ever be considered worthy of a vote.
No TD who wants to take away women's rights should be given the time of day.
