Always love the new words that my typing fingers invent, bypassing my conscious mind.

Today's new finger-invention: HIERARCHIVES

Giving this word away free to any archives scholar who wants it LOL. Just footnote my index and middle fingers (I'm a four-finger typer) #history #archives #skystorians

I did wonder, in the dream, if she had used ChatGPT to generate the 43 poems on such short notice. Curiosity has gotten the better of me. Here's Chat's offering:

My subconscious cracks me up.Woke this morning from a dream that my PhD student had decided she needed to sell out, and at her defence had withdrawn her actual dissertation and submitted a new one titled 43 SHORT POEMS FOR RUPERT MURDOCH. I was devastated in my dream, but laughing my ass off now.

The UK has a chance to pioneer pornography regulation – it must take it | Susanna Rustin The crime bill proposes a stronger model of consent – and with violent imagery and child sexual abuse soaring, who, really, can argue against it? says author Susanna Rustin

Operation Spanner came up a number of times in class. Wish those politics were the distant past, but far from. See this article from yesterday about a new effort to ban BDSM pornography in the UK.

I learned so much from this seminar. Above all, that power dynamics in BDSM and kink are never simple: that kink creates opportunities for playing *with* power, which cannot be captured in the imagined binary of "reification vs. transgression." A kinky analytic is a great way to think about power.

The stakes of teaching and learning this history are real. Britain is at this moment considering outlawing BDSM pornographic imagery (strangulation) on the specious argument that "violent pornography" leads to murder and abuse of women and girls. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Class photos of the first course on **Kink History** ever taught in North America, to my knowledge. The students came up with the idea of memorializing our seminar with a photograph. What a blast! @uvichumanities.bsky.social #histsex #kinkhistory @uvic.ca

Is the kink concept of "play" a way to think about sexuality without pigeonholing in taxonomies of sexual identities that stigmatize and pathologize human sexuality? I love this idea (Tiidenberg and Passonen 2019)

First is my wife @duniabest.bsky.social, who hired me in 1995 to play bass in her groundbreaking #NYC #ska #punk band AGENT 99. Together, we formed Brave New Girl, Dubistry, and Dunia & Aram, cowrote 100+ songs, gigged on 3 continents.

Her voice is the soundtrack of my life & she’s still the boss.
