All prisoners deserve humane conditions, but immigration detainees are not even prisoners — most have broken no law, other than the civil laws regulating immigration. If they need to be detained pending removal, it should not be in prisons.

Like almost all Republicans, Mike Lawler (NY 17) voted for the Big Bad Bill. His district was represented by Democrats for 40 years and voted for Obama (twice), Clinton, Biden and Harris. Lawler is an anomaly. If we go all out in 2026 we can beat him.

Health care is as much of a human right as food and shelter. Our country can afford it. It is a moral failing not to provide it.

Dems need to do whatever they can to block Trump’s big bad bill. Requiring the bill to be read on the floor was a good first step. Keep using parliamentary procedure as a form of civil disobedience.

Perhaps one of the reasons ICE agents are masked is to conceal their background as Rikers Island guards, Proud Boys and J6ers.
