My artist statement: ‘Outer Blue’ depicts my back and forth desire to fit into the mold of what it means to be a Black woman, yet feeling like a strange entity in my own body: stretched thin, fragmented, and billowing. The figure in the piece stands between a dotted horizon, looking directly at the viewer. They stand strong, but there’s a wavering element to their stance against the dark blue background that is hesitant. The iridescent sphere hovering over the elongated form serves as a balancing act that is my gender; one that has me teetering between female, male and nothing I can quite comprehend.

Delayed life/art update for Bluesky:

I was part of my first gallery show w/ an original piece for the first time in about a decade. The show ‘Black Queer GRITS (Girls Raised In The South) was so beautiful & I can’t thank everyone enough. ‘Outer Blue’ is the name of my piece and I’m so proud of it 💙

After weeks of procrastinating and getting lost in Pokopia, I finally got around to modeling the space gun. The space ship is up. Gonna force myself to finish it before my burst of energy evaporates again.

I want to hope but the itch/Steam event has not resulted in the larger artist/creative world from waking up to this reality at all. Look at how people responded to the UK ruling. We might actually be cooked again for another 40 years.

From now on, every meteorological event that can be visible in NYC needs to state the cloud coverage because its 3 times now it's been completely overcast.

Trying a project where I draw as many objects at the Met as possible. Here is (most of) Room 300

A flat colored 3D model reference sheet of a space gun. It is short and round in shape. The notable features on the gun is the set of antennae that ends in a star, the transparent midsection that contains a liquid lava mass within, and the star insignia on the back.

I really like the cosmic weapons in Overwatch so this was actually really fun for me to draw and finalize. Now on to the spaceship.
