i think it is important to say that the open and explicit racism of the president and the vice president isn’t just uncouth or “controversial” but a direct attack on tens of millions of americans and a dereliction of their duty to represent the entire country

Science at risk: The funding pause is more damaging than you might think Research that helps drive our economy is on hold and may face new ideological limits.

If you're wondering why scientists are freaking the fuck out about what's being described as a pause in spending, I have written an article just for you:

by freezing all federal grants, trump is fundamentally transforming the relationship between the executive and congress. he is asserting dictatorial authority over federal spending, transforming congress's lawmaking powers into advisory authority. it is a constitutional crisis

Article I says Congress makes laws and has power of the purse.

Article II requires POTUS to faithfully execute laws.

Refusing to execute laws so he can usurp Congress’s budgetary authority is unconstitutional.

A self-respecting Congress would do a veto-proof resolution, and if necessary, impeach.

U.S. Senate: Contacting U.S. Senators

The separation of powers designates that Congress controls the financial powers of our government. Trump's series of sweeping executive orders within the last few days has sought expressly to rob Congress of that power.

This is not a Baldwin quote. These lines were penned, instead, by Robert Jones Jr. author of the novel “The Prophets”. Please stop recirculating this misattribution.

It sure would be a hassle if folks continued to send lots of large files to this address over and over again: DEIAtruth@opm.gov

That would be bad, right? It might bog things down, even interfere with the current witch hunt.

Allow us to suggest such a file: www.govinfo.gov/content/pkg/...

They set up a snitch line for DEI in the federal government. If you feel like sending your best copies of the bee movie script or some queer smut, have at it.

🚨 🚨 🚨 HOMEWORK 🚨 🚨 🚨

The email address for federal workers to inform on their colleagues is DEIAtruth@opm.gov.

Would be a real shame if folks flooded that inbox, rendering it useless.

In his 1963 “A Talk to Teachers,” Baldwin warned about complacency:

“It’s inconceivable that a sovereign people should continue, as we do so abjectly, to say ‘I can’t do anything about it. It’s the government.”

We avoid this reality at our own peril!
