I like Ngumoha starting. Very good. Very nice.
But does it have to be with Gakpo as 9. We did this also against Spurs (Rio - Gakpo - Frimpong).
Wolves in the cup (Rio - Gakpo - Salah)
He had Chiesa as 9 when we got battered by Palace in the Cocainebro Cup.
Not sure what to make of that midfield

I think the scoreline was worse, not the perfermance.
We didn't even remotely compete in that match in any sense of the word. There was nothing to pin a hat on. The starting gameplan was awful. We didn't adapt or adjust. We couldn't get on the ball. We couldn't counter. Easy to play through.

Touch on it here, but we have to change. I wrote the season off and gave Slot a pass this year due to Jota & transition year. What I didn't take into account is the impact that would have on Slot - but also how he can get them back after letting this go for a year.
is honestly an insult to do so. But remember when he compared his team to Klopp's Dortmund saying 'he plays a 442 and doesn't get this criticism'?
Thats because the formation isn't the issue. Its the cowardball behind it. The full backs dropping into the box. Wingers being 1v2 on the flanks. etc
The biggest concern for me is when nothing changes - its not the system the players are in but the core identity of the team that is then flawed.
You can stick players in any formation but if their ideas and principles are crap then the football will be crap.
I am not coping Slot to Hodgson, it
what would worse than that performance look like. They had scores of big chances and needed several top saves from Mama + them hitting the post from it being a humiliating 4 or 5 nil.
At the other end, we did literally nothing at all.
the result or the performance are any worse than "anyone" said they expected. In that sense the change did no harm
- i think the issue here is, the expectation was to be completely dominated at battered. And that is what happened. So yeah, the change did nothing - but there wasn't really a 'worse'
Could be worse.
He could have lucked out a result with it with a similar performance then ran with it until the end of the year with dogshit football and not creating any chances
I honestly haven't thought about that. Simply because the manager market is always changing and how is available today will probably be in work by May, and there will be scores of guys available who aren't.
Xabi remains an obvious choice.
Klopp sounds like he wants back into management.
Who knows
nothing with either of the goals.
Oh we can. And did :D
But yeah, numbers are almost as brutal as watching us at the moment. I say almost because I don't remember us having 26% of the ball and 3 shots. And I think 2.2 is very generous in what was against us. I feel like Mama made a string of saves, they hit the post, could do
whether this season looks like this without Jota's death? And the answer is... it doesn't matter. Because we aren't trying to solve hypotheticals but actualities.
Nope
I was willing to write off the season given transition year + Jota. I knew it would be a total shitshow.
What I didn't think about was how that would impact Slot.
Even in my most generous interpretation, I think we need a fresh face for a multitude of reasons.
That hard question for me is
but some vicious fucker has scheduled a bunch of league, cup and european games for them to get through a torture.
Positives: Its only 2-0. We can have another big night under the anfield nights here. We've come back from much worse positions before.
Negatives: We look like we couldn't come back from 2-0 down against the players' wives right now. Think we just want the season to finish to have a mental reset
Looks like 2 flat lines of 5 now. Ugh
In the EPL, that penalty doesn't get overturned bcause of the high bar bollocks. Because there was contact (but not enough for a penalty) before Konate gets a foot on the ball.
this is shockingly hard to watch. We look nowhere near their level.
Dom is literally walking towards their players to 'press' them
Was offside. So not an official shot
Without that, every mistake a disaster. Counter pressing near impossible. Buildup requires high risk actions rather than being a rrehearsed process that looks simple and coordinated.
Fuck we could be several goals down here. Another big miss from Dembele
compactness, etc which mean most problems are minimized through organisation than individuals.
Thirdly... if your setup is a problem then perfect decision making (and outcomes) becomes neccessary to be in a game at all. Because usually players have support on the ball, cover out of possession.

I think decision making is a great limiter in a few ways.
Firstly, players consistently making good decisions isn't that common.
Secondly, because the more decisions players have to make (rather than it being drilled into them, or not needed because you have good depth,
0 shots in the first half
We should bring on Elliott to sneak an away goal
shooting positions (like Wirtz just now).
Doesn't bode well
individuals have to do 2 - 3 perfect actions to make attacks work (like Grav with that dribble, then through ball through 2 players).
We are having to take risks to progress and keep the ball in buildup and consolidation phases. And having to pull rabbits out of hats to get into good creating or
Generally speaking... its a very bad sign when you look easy to play against. Easy to progress against. Easy to play through. Easy to get into and around the box and complete passes or find space to get shots off.
In contrast, the opposite in attack is also a bad sign. When good moments require
Maybe it was the broadcast here, we only saw a replay from behind the LFC goal and it wasn't clear. I thought there was just from the top spin but you couldn't see it until they replayed from the side, then from the PSG end - clear on both those views
That was a very food save from the deflection off Macca. Looks like it will curve to Mama's left and the deflection takes it to his right. The type of shot you see leave a keeper standing as it spins into the corner
Thought the yellow was harsh on Gomez. Seemed to get the ball but I guess sliding is practically outlawed now.
