For all the laughable moments of Mamdani/Trump meeting, I do think it matters that someone, Mamdani, said Israel is committing genocide in the Oval Office during a press conference.

As @raeoflion.bsky.social and I wrote in this article featuring Rae's video:
A report from the California Health Care Foundation found that 10 percent cut to HCBS programs would lead to $1 billion more in Medicaid spending in the state... due to the greater overall costs of institutionalization.
This is going to kill people. And to be honest I think that’s part of the point.

I got my updated Covid-19 vaccine today at CVS in Los Angeles! I just had to self-attest to having a high risk condition. It was free with insurance.
To illustrate the state of life in America right now:
Several journalists who were bleeding and needed stitches because of assaults by LAPD drove around to urgent care facilities only to find them closed, then wavered on going to emergency rooms because of high costs of treatment there.
10. The insurance model is a rationing system. ‘Coverage’ is a euphemism for controlled scarcity. They don’t just decide what care you get—they decide if you’re worth the cost.
9. Disability politics asks: what would an economy look like if keeping each other alive was the highest value? Not GDP, not productivity—but the refusal to abandon anyone. Disability pride is also a revolution in how we define wealth.
1. Disability is a site of class struggle because it exposes the lie of meritocracy. We show that survival isn’t earned—it’s organized, or it doesn’t happen at all.

Good morning! DRC has invited @katherinewolf.bsky.social (me!) to take over their social media today to live-post the California State Assembly Committee on Public Safety hearing of Senate Bill (SB) 27 (CARE Court expansion)! You, too, can also watch live here: www.assembly.ca.gov/media-live-e...
Thank you @katherinewolf.bsky.social for this play by play! Appreciate you & everyone who put in the work today.
PSA: There’s a difference between wearing a mask or respirator & wearing a gaiter or face covering to disguise identity. It’s important to discern & communicate this nuance because if you don’t, you might encourage elected officials to ban masks for everyone, which would be a public health disaster.
6 months ago, someone told me “we have 2 choices. we can fight this or we can accept it.” & I chose to fight alongside so many passionate, brilliant minds dedicated to protecting our care. The fight isn’t over. & everyone who makes the choice to fight will still be here tomorrow.
It's not over yet. What can stop this in the House is a show of political power from the masses.
Calling your House member reminds them that they represent us, not just a handful of billionaires. SEIU set up this phone line that connects you to your house member (it's really easy): 866-426-2631.
Hi friends. The "big brutal bill" passed the Senate today. We expect the House to vote tomorrow. This bill is an enormous transfer of wealth from the masses to the wealthiest few. It takes away health care & food from millions of people to give tax cuts to billionaires and to fund ICE's terror.
My daughter relies on Medicaid.
We don't "get" Medicaid.
We don't receive a check from Medicaid.
Medicaid covers her life-saving medical expenses.
Medicaid is health insurance.
Medicaid is health care.
That's what Medicaid is.
And that's why we need our senators to #VoteNo and #ProtectMedicaid.
Reminder that the median Medicaid eligibility level for pregnancy is over 2x the poverty level. Many of these people Mullin is referring to are pregnant or are children. www.kff.org/medicaid/iss...
Look, at the risk of bringing facts to a vibes fight, but... the eligibility threshold for Medicaid is not the same as the Federal poverty line, so yes, there are going to be more people who qualify. Quick breakdown below...
Billionaires and the establishment threw all the money in the world to steal this election from New Yorkers. They lost badly. Never underestimate the power everyday people have when they organize ✊️
It’s been said but it’s worth saying again: why is there always money for war and never money for health care? Why can we bomb people abroad and not heal our neighbor’s broken leg? Cutting health care is violent, cutting health care to fund war is especially violent.
All of these policies are being done under the guise of fiscal responsibility, but in reality, providing health care for everyone is exactly what our tax dollars should be doing.
Governor Newsom is trying to cut Medi-Cal for people with unsatisfactory immigration status, charging premiums, limiting what services they can access, and in some cases, removing eligibility
CMS released guidance to revoke ACA marketplace eligibility for DACA recipients
The Senate version of the budget bill would revoke eligibility for both Medicaid and Medicare for certain legal immigrant groups. Sign this letter to tell Congress to vote no: www.disabilityrightsca.org/latest-news/...
There is a violent attack on immigrant health on several fronts right now (thread):
Thank you, Congresswoman! As a disabled Californian it means so much to me to see you champion disability rights.
