As we were taxing to take off I overhead someone say “oh my goodness, is it raining!?!?”

BLESSED are the people who arrived early enough to the airport they didn’t even know about that part.

Need to start making more plans for the “but what if everything that could go wrong does go wrong including things you’d never anticipate” scenarios. 😂

Muttered “are you fucking kidding me” an unprecedented number of times in the two hours leading up to boarding our plane. 😅

The important part is that we are indeed somehow miraculously ON the plane.

We swam with a monk seal and sea turtle earlier today in a local cove but uploading the videos will have to wait.

I love Hawaii. 🏝️🦭🐢

Matt Damon playing a 14th century French knight that looks like a third baseman for the Phillies. Mullet. Beard. Smells like horse shit, pine tar, and cigarette smoke.

Every time Matt Damon takes on a period role he ends up looking like a third baseman for the Phillies.

The 25th Amendment was very deliberately designed to make it effectively impossible to use when you're instead supposed to be doing impeachment, and its framers were successful at that.

I might need to permanently live in the Hawaiian time zone for my mental health

Omg I forgot it’s already Tuesday 😭oh wow well it’s been nice to be totally detached from most of the world and time itself for a while.

Photo of a view from a beach chair, book propped up open, tall palm trees dot the sky a beach cove and resort scene unfolds beyond Orange resort umbrellas. The sky is blue no clouds with bright blue ocean on a calm day.

Soaking up our final beach hours for the year

The thing about Disney is that the people at their fancy resorts are either super family oriented or super big nerds (or both) and while there’s obviously some overlap it’s still a fairly distinct demographic than the typical white lotus/four seasons etc type.

Before they brought out the characters they played an “exclusive member song” and my husband and I turned to each other and were like “oh no I think we’ve joined another cult” lol

This is its own type of strange subculture re global wealth but it’s distinct from the White Lotus/Four Seasons kind lol

We are a part of this very specifically strange group of rich people with children who travel to Hawaii to do the cha cha slide with Mickey and Minnie and Chip and Dale and Goofy dressed in Hawaiian shirts lol

“Is it just me or is almost everyone here disconcertingly white?” He says as we peak through the strategically placed privacy bushes.

(We are part of the disconcertingly white demographic tbc…just at a different resort with slightly more diverse appeal lol)

Walked by the Four Seasons and decided I have to rewatch The White Lotus, this time with my husband. 😂

Went for an afternoon walk along the coast and got a little sunburned but it was worth it.

The Wild Wild Western Water Wars - The American Prospect As a changing climate bakes and dries up the Colorado River, the seven basin states can’t agree on how to share the declining water resources.

in the American West, we've got totally nonsensical 174-year-old legal structures about water rights colliding with climate change-fueled drought, with the federal government AWOL prospect.org/2026/04/17/w...

I am fascinated by how Tulsi seems to have accumulated allies to help her out of tight spots so far in this admin.

Brooke Rollins should probably get her back up plan in place atp.

Part of it is honestly just running out of ideas you both agree on. It makes you dive deeper into name lists lol. My first boy has a fairly popular for his generation name and my third has a name that’s like the 1300st most popular in the UK, a country where we don’t even live.

Probably this atp but there’s a lot of options in her discography

It’s all so fascinating! And I love your thesis. You have a real gift for writing history as a narrative.

Also I had every staffer in my local Barnes and Noble looking for their copies before I left because they didn’t have it shelved properly, so now that’s fixed and they all know about your book.

My excuse for those typos this time is that I’m at the beach with a lot of glare lol

Thank you @mkn.bsky.social for writing such a great book! It’s perfect for vacations as a fan of nonfiction. I love how the stories of all the different figures covered intertwine and unfold.

This is such a deep collection of songs. I love how she takes you on a journey in each song and plays with her analogies in ways that feel new or unique. It’s shockingly dark and unsettling but the honesty also offers a form of hope imo.

They are so used to curating their own entertainment, it’s amazing to see them find a sort of relief or pleasure in having someone else do it for them.

Also interesting to see how they naturally connected with the communal aspect that other people are watching the same show at the exact time.
