I assume it's no coincidence that 2/3 of those would get Manny to ask for a trade...?
Agree completely. When I said "biggest issue" I meant it's the thing that stands no chance of being resolved; the result of a deal MLB made with McCourt (and later renegotiated with Guggenheim). It's more illustrative that the Dodgers have $60M/year (and nearly an extra billion total) to play with.
Biggest issue, to me, is the Dodgers also have a media deal shielded from revenue sharing. We're talking ~$60M a year & over $950M total thus far. I get they're not the only team who gets a pass on this - all clubs w/ownership stakes in their media networks do. That's maybe a place to start.
I don't really understand how using the $4B sales price to argue the Pads can play with the big boys does anything other than highlight just how much money the Dodgers are playing with. Their investment group handles nearly 4x the assets as Clearlake and spent half as much to acquire the team.
Mostly avoided that conversation because of the tone, but I agree with the general premise of what he's arguing: the Dodgers' ability to spend like no other isn't as much of a competitive advantage and other teams can still close the gap in the current system.
HOWEVER...
Are you prepared to spend like the Dodgers?
But it's a competition and it's the most, which is something that we, as fans, should be celebrating.
#TeamNotLacob, who I'm assuming is everybody, is ecstatic.

He's actually conditioned me to be concerned when he throws a single pitch that's a non-whiff. Just insane.
Miller's ability to dot multiple pitches with that much filth isn't fair.
Bullying works.
Scientists believed it was impossible to create pure, uncut Mid until now.

Yes. 1000% not a one size fits all situation.
Looooooove this.
That's normally what I do. But there's also times (like this Sunday) where I can't get there early enough for that sort of thing.
Depending on matchup and whether you take public transit, it's a coin toss. If you don't care about the matchup, absolutely. I would also argue Anaheim's parking lot works as kind of a buffer to any pre- or post-game meal options, so your hand is forced a bit to spend on concessions.
Yeah, it's a bummer. Trolley is a great option once you get far enough south, but there's some wrinkles if you're coming from North County. Unless you're taking a half-day, it's kind of a non-starter (before even accounting for racing back with kids to get the last Coaster north).
Parking is the craziest part to me. Every year, they find a new way to make sure you're paying $50+ for a parking space - even if it isn't particularly close to the ballpark. This year, they expanded metered time two hours until 8:00pm while keeping the two-hour maximum.
It's good* when so many people share the same trauma.
*It's probably not good and instead very bad.
lol didn't see this before I posted
I don't know, doc. When *you* hear "yellow and mushy" do you associate it with a banana or something similar, like a normal person? Or are you like me, who immediately thinks of Cory Luebke's tendon graft? You moron. You total fucking idiot.
They died so that public e-scooter apps could live. (At least that was my impression visiting Phoenix a week or so ago.)
