Day 8 of #100DaysOfCode

Life got a little busy, so I didn't get a chance to work on the pickleball app until today😅.

I set up a basic route for getting all users and added the query but am currently debugging why it's not connecting to the PostgreSQL in Docker.

Day 7 of #100DaysOfCode

I finished adding all the test data to the database🫡. I'm excited to start building out the API tomorrow.

It's also making scrutinize the paddle data more and rethinking how I want to architect the tables. For instance, a paddle can be different sizes which would change some of their specs so should I upload two different records or break it up another way?🤔

Day 6 of #100DaysOfCode

I decided to upload 3 paddles instead of all the ones I had gathered. This made me realize that testing against a small amount of data would be the better approach so I can validate if the setup works.

Thank you! And yes! It took so much longer than it would😅🥲

Day 5 of #100DaysOfCode

Okay, I underestimated how many paddles there are out there🙃, and it's going to take a while to clean up all this data manually.

I'm going to pivot and just upload the paddles that are popular and recent for now. Then, slowly upload the rest in batches.

The not-so-fun part is cleaning up the data. I hoping to get at least most of it in there tomorrow🤞.

On a side note, I discovered there are 77 pickleball paddle companies, which is way more than I thought.

Day 4 of #100DaysOfCode

Today was fun! I started adding data to the tables. I want to be able to query and upload data in a GUI, and I found pgAdmin for PostgreSQL. I used to use Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio a few years ago, so it felt familiar.

Day 3 of #100DaysOfCode

I didn't get a chance to do too much 😅, but I did finish getting Docker up and locally set up the PostgreSQL database 🙌.

Welp, I got sick yesterday, but I am feeling much better today

Day 2 of #100DaysOfCode

- I spent a lot of time today learning more about Docker. Setting it up with Express, Node, and TypeScript has been a bit of a challenge, but I've been having fun trying to understand the architecture.

1 year ago 4 0 0 0

I can tell how much I've improved in making websites after working on multiple projects. (Yay to progress🥳)

- Lastly, I've been looking into adding testing to an existing project. I want to make an e2e test using Playwright, and it's been challenging to understand how to set up the auth.

It was time-consuming trying to get the backend set up and also trying out Docker. Tech stack: React, Vite, Tailwind, Typescript, Node, Express, PostgreSQL

- I've been working on updating my portfolio project, which has been really fun.

Guess who decided to do #100DaysOfCode again?👉🤓👈

I've missed posting and sharing, so I'm hoping it keeps me accountable again🙏.

Day 1 of #100DaysOfCode

- I started a new side project (pickleball related, of course). I'm planning to do the frontend and backend.

Got to hang with @jennifertieu.bsky.social and @intelagense.bsky.social earlier today at Houston Code and Coffee! Loved catching up, talking tech, and laughing about silly things like how to hold a phone. 🤣🤣🤣

Unit testing lets you test individual parts of your apps. Here, Damilola teaches you how to write unit tests in Python. You'll learn how to use the built-in unittest testing framework along the way.

Others are practicing the fine art of noticing how they have been wronged. Still more have mastered the craft of making plans (but never following through).

But, of course, it doesn't have to be that way.

What are you practicing?"

1) You get better at what you practice.

Look around and you may be surprised by what people are “practicing" each day. If you consider each moment a repetition, what are most people training for all day long?

I created a Bluesky Starter Pack! 🎉

It includes ~75 wonderful people in the web dev community who are doing inspiring work. I know I’ve missed some folks; I plan on adding to it over time.

Starter packs are such a great idea. Immediately makes Bluesky feel less lonely for newcomers. 😄
