Happy to see this beautiful work out and honoured to be part of it!

Thrilled to present our comparative study on the evolution of zygotic genome activation (ZGA)!! 🥚🧬
Amazing PhD work of @campobes.bsky.social together with @fedemantica.bsky.social and many collaborators! @melisupf.bsky.social @crg.eu. Thread below 1/15

Diversity of ZGA onset in animal model organisms
ZGA is a universal and essential transition in animal development, by which embryos take control of their own gene expression. Despite its importance, ZGA has well been characterized in only a handful of model organisms, where both the timing and the identity of the genes involved greatly vary. 2/15
Excellent first keynote talk by Pau Carazo @paucarazo.bsky.social from the university of Valencia on how temperature drives the divergent evolution of sexual conflict in #Drosophila chaired by @gonzalezlabbcn.bsky.social #DrosoSpain2026
@pedromartinezserra.bsky.social presenting cool work on tunicate phylogeny and more during the annual seminar in Natural Sciences at the Museum here in Tromsø
Registration for the 19th meeting of the #SEBD is now open! Please join us at El Rompido for 3 days full of excellent #DevBio and plenty of opportunities to present your work at #SEBD2026 share.google/2llY3VlS5fQA...
The @geneticsub.bsky.social @biologiaub.bsky.social was represented this week at #BSDB2026 @bsdb.bsky.social by @isabelalmudi.bsky.social who presented her latest results on gene duplication and co-option of doublesex in the origin of the really amazing male specific visual system of mayflies!
#SEBD board members @isabelalmudi.bsky.social and @trayon.bsky.social were this week at #BSDB2026 @bsdb.bsky.social meeting “Molecules to Morphogens” at Warwick, presenting their latest results
Wow!! Great news! Congrats 😍
Huge congrats!

This was a great meeting! What a fantastic way to celebrate #DevBio with our #GfE and #DSDB colleagues at #GfESEBDDSBD2026 Thank you all for the #science , the discussions and all the fun! See you all again soon! #GfE2026
[1/14] 🥚🧬 La mayoría de aves proporcionan algún grado de cuidado parental a su descendencia, una inversión (tiempo, energía, exposición a depredadores…) muy elevada para mejorar la supervivencia de su descendencia.
That's it: #GfE2026 #GfESEBDDSDB2026 is over. Thanks for the science, talks, posters, chairing, discussions, helpers in back & front. See you latest at #GfE2028 for more #DevBio & oidsks for all the fish, plants, mice, worm, flies, frogs, squids, brown algae, human, -oids, whatnots and you.
The @geneticsub.bsky.social @biologiaub.bsky.social was very well represented at this week’s joint meeting of the @sebioldev.bsky.social @gfeev.bsky.social and DSDB meeting in Potsdam with talks by @isabelalmudi.bsky.social @sofiajaraujo.bsky.social @araujolabub.bsky.social
Macro photograph, in top view, of two insects standing on a cluster of small, 4-petalled white flowers. Both insects have a red head and thorax and black at their back ends. The beetle on the right is slightly broader, and has a narrow white line separating the red and black parts of its body, as to suggest a narrow ant waist.
Model and mimic: a clever longhorn beetle (Euderces reichei, at right) tries its best to look like a local carpenter ant, Campontous decipiens, as they both feed on a spring dogwood flower. Brackenridge Field Laboratory, Texas.

Mayflies are sexually dimorphic, with males having an extra set of 'turban'-like eyes. @isabelalmudi.bsky.social shows that turban eyes develop by adapting existing eye gene networks, likely downstream of an extra sex-determining gene found only in males. #gfe2026

At the #GfESEBDDSBD2026 EvoDevo session we start with a talk by Isabel Almudi @isabelalmudi.bsky.social from @geneticsub.bsky.social and #SEBD board member #GfE2026
joint meeting of the German, Spanish and dutch societies for developmental biology 2026
it’s already … tomorrow?!
Who is heading to #gfe2026 in Potsdam? Looking forward to seeing you all and to discuss your science. #devbio
Kicking off #gfe2026 meeting with a great historical perspective on Potsdam followed by the Keynote Lecture by Thomas Bosh.
Thomas shows us that eukaryotes are holobionts/meta organisms that do-evolved with species-specific microbiota.
Welcome to the GfE Meeting 2026 joint with DSDB and SEBD in Potsdam. Salim Seyfried opens the #gfe2026 conference at Uni Potsdam. Let’s have amazing 4 days of science.
It has been a great start to our Development & Regeneration joint meeting #GfESEBDDSDB2026 with a great keynote and two fantastic sessions on Fertilization and early development! @sebioldev.bsky.social @gfeev.bsky.social
Our society is well represented in this first flash-talk session with talks by Jorge Mañes-García (from @cbm-csic-uam.bsky.social) and Isabel Pérez-Ferrer (from @eloisaherrera.bsky.social @neuroalc.bsky.social) #GfESEBDDSDB2026 #gfe2026
What a way to start the second day of #GfESEBDDSDB2026 ! A Keynote lecture by Isabel Fariñas @farinaslab.bsky.social introduced by our president Eloisa Herrera @eloisaherrera.bsky.social
We continue the morning with a session on “Forces define form - mechanobiology” with 2 #SEBD representatives, Jerome Solom from Biofisika Institute (CSIC, EHU) and Cielo Centola from @cabd-upo-csic.bsky.social
