When you make it, if you tire of eating it out of the jar with a spoon (unlikely) I can highly recommend making this cake:

Made it this week for my lemon-obsessed child and it was incredible 🌟

📢 3 more days to submit your paediatric research as an abstract
4/4
The proposed plan:
1. Awareness and education for professionals/policymakers
2. Improved, integrated national surveillance
3. Infection prevention & control education programmes
4. Cross sector antifungal stewardship
5. Investment & innovation - new diagnostics and drugs via pragmatic trials
3/4
The bottom line: we need urgent global action - better diagnostics, new drugs, smarter use of antifungals, a One Health approach linking human, animal and environmental health.
This commentary is a call to arms to divert a crisis.
2/4
📍Fungal infections have comparatively poor diagnostics and worldwide surveillance
📍Agricultural fungicide use is a major driver of resistance
📍The impact is greatest in underserved populations (including LMICs and younger populations)
Medical mycologists shine light on the under-appreciated threat of antifungal resistance.
It's behind a paywall, so the TL;DR:
📍Fungal infections affect >6.5million people/year and resistance is rising quickly
📍Resistance makes treatments less effective and leads to increasing deaths

An image of a teenage holding a phone, the overlaid text reads: Meningitis cases in Dorset: What you need to know
🆕 You might have seen news stories reporting 3 confirmed cases of meningitis (MenB) in Dorset.
💊 All have received treatment and are recovering well. Close contacts of the cases have already been offered antibiotics as a precaution.
ℹ️ This strain is not linked to the recent outbreak in Kent

GW4-CAT HP was delighted to officially welcome our fourth cohort of fellows—Olivia, Leila, Sam, @paedsdr.bsky.social, and @sachalmoore.bsky.social —at their induction training day last week.
This weekend I've been at New Scientist Live 2025 at the Excel Centre in London with colleagues from @mrccmm.bsky.social at the @universityofexeter.bsky.social. It's been such a great opportunity to meet with people of all ages who love science and share with them our passion for Mycology
No parent should have to choose between going to work and being at their sick newborn baby’s side.
This weekend, new rules came into force, giving parents of ill newborns up to 12 weeks of paid leave.
A compassionate, long-overdue step.
We only rate dogs. This is clearly a Christmas tree. Yes there is another Christmas tree behind it, that's called having friends. Please only send dogs. Thank you… 14/10
Linzer Cookies, in all their festive beauty and buttery tenderness, are #RecipeOfTheDay! I wouldn’t want to attempt them in the Southern Hemisphere (sorry over there) but in our cold, Northern Hemisphere kitchens, the soft, rich dough is helpfully biddable www.nigella.com/recipes/linz...

Opt-opt #HIV & #Hepatitis Emergency Department testing identifies an older cohort , more woman, more Black African, & more socially deprived people than classic testing routes
Most importantly 80% of people diagnosed had NO other contact with services where testing occurs

Two stages of writing:
1) This shouldn't take too long
2) Oh no
Other people rave about it so I must be missing something!
