Decided to do my own shadow drop π This is the first personal project Iβve finished in almost 2 years! Itβs based on an original concept, and designed to stretch multiple skill areas Iβm interested in: level assembly, hero prop/, and worldbuilding.

Small trick I came across in Unreal today... If you use UE5's modeling tools on an existing mesh asset (Lattice Deform in my case), and the lighting is broken as a result, check your normals in the visualizer. If they're broken, go to Attribs > Normals, and run Recompute Normals, all fixed!

First time experiencing a sudden and unexpected pet death. π’ RIP Cheddar, the cheesy boy, king cheese, chicken nugget, goofy goober, and every other name we loved you by. We will miss you. β€οΈπ±
Hey you!
Yeah, you!
Go into your Unreal blueprint graph, select a group of unaligned nodes, and press Q.
You're welcome. :)
Hello to my almost 200 followers! Was not expecting such a big increase while Iβve been inactive, so thanks. π
Here I was, logging in to say I saw Interstellar in IMAX tonight (and it was AMAZING), but Iβll gladly take the detour!
Maybe Iβll start being more active on hereβ¦ π

Welcome to all the new folks!
Heyo everyone I'm Lucas Annunziata. I'm a 3D Environment Artist in the games industry currently working at Moonshot Games. I was at Blizzard for 5 yrs on Overwatch 1+2, and at Torn Banner on Chivalry 1, a bit of chiv 2, and Mirage (RIP)
To the lady who stared at my 9-months pregnant wife while she was checking out at the grocery store and asked her "Wow, are you REALLY about to buy ALL that food?"
Please kindly drive to your nearest Party City and tell the staff that you'll buy out their clown supplies section.
2024 will largely be defined by an adjustment to parenthood, something my wife and I are incredibly excited for, and have been looking forward to for the last 5 years. If that means another year with no 3D personal art to show, I'm at peace with that.
On one hand, it's a bummer and I wrestle with feelings of failure looking back on the year. On the other hand, this year threw a lot at me, and I'm proud of prioritizing my health over some arbitrary project quota, as well as taking time to prepare for the birth of my son. :)
No Art vs. Artist, AS Recap, etc. from me this year. I started a handful of 3D personal projects, but none of them quite made it to the finish line. I also was involved in a really cool community project thru Beyond Extent, but also nothing to show from that (yet).
I've been seeing this happen more and more when looking up artists on Google. Hard to say anything that hasn't already been said about how sad this is. :/
I completed the New Dad rite of passage this afternoon

Wife has levelled up, from meme pics of me taking ref photos, to this pretty legit shot on our recent road trip.
I feel like that's a theme during your mid-20s and also a very prevalent feeling in this crazy, confusing world we live in. Best of luck as you do the work of figuring it out during your next trip around the sun. :)
Anyone had luck with getting pet insurance with no waiting period? Or applying for any vet expense assistance programs? Or anything else to relieve the pressure?
Took my new Sigma 56mm 1.4f lens out for a spin today in San Diego's Old Town. Definitely impressed by the sharpness and depth of field, but wow it was certainly an extra challenge taking pictures on a day with such strong direct sunlight.

Iβm done, and now I can breathe again! Eight weeks in the making and also a lot of hardware hickups along the way. But I did it π
Looks great! Seems like a pretty accurate blockout, and nice work capturing the mood and lighting even at this early stage. Looking forward to watching the progress.
Hey @gamedevlist.bsky.social could I get added to the list? I'm a 3D environment artist at PlayStation, 4 years experience in the industry. :)
