Back from two incredible days at #cyber25. Hearing about all of the innovative research going on in the community is so motivating at the end of a long academic year. Great to catch up with everyone and meet new people. Hopefully see you all next year! @bpscyberpsychology.bsky.social
This is me 10 years ago, one of the first times I ever used VR, using an Oculus Rift Development Kit. Come see what I've been up to more recently at the @bpscyberpsychology.bsky.social conference where I will be talking about my final 2 PhD studies using VR in eyewitness memory research #Cyber25

I asked the X ai, Grok, to generate an image I would like. It gave me a man with a beard and lip ring, talking into a tiny dumbbell like a microphone. Also Nicolas Cage. Yes Grok, I do like this!
One of my favourite games of all time! Purple tentacle is on my tattoo wish list
I have also left the safety of my long-standing technical job and moved to academica, where I'm lucky enough to teach my research areas and work with fabulous students and staff
(I've also made some serious headway with powerlifting and got back into reading for fun)
Here's to 2025
Presented at conferences (and won the best work in progress presentation award at the BPS Cyberpsychology conference), given guest talks, finished my data collection and set a deadline for PhD submission

Definitely interested to hear a Cyberpsychology podcast!
For the next 10 weeks my teaching will focus mostly on #cyberpsychology and I'm excited to see how often I can steer the conversation toward #VR ๐
Welcome! Always happy to chat VR. David Fox gave some useful resources about VR and XR in his reply to this thread that might be useful ๐
Thanks David, this is really helpful! Also I'm a huge fan of your work - Return to Monkey Island and Thimbleweed Park were an absolute joy to play
Nice to see some familiar faces here. For everyone else I'm Andy. A PhD researcher investigating eyewitness memory and virtual reality. I'm also an assistant lecturer in Psychology. Avid reader, video game enthusiast and listener of punk/emo/metal.
I'm still finding my way around, but the vibe here is definitely better!
This is great, please add me ๐
