Solar panels that generate power from raindrops! Just perfect for Ireland

Electric mopeds and motorbikes make so much sense compared to ICE models- there are already loads here in Ireland- though they are mostly described as e-bikes, often by people who should know better

You don’t have try very hard to find records of people expressing that view publicly- it’s only a smear if they think it’s something to be ashamed of- they don’t

6 days ago 0 0 2 0

If he was the only person who believes that then it would be interesting- but a lot of people do- I’m not interested in shaming (or promoting) one person it’s about challenging that narrative

6 days ago 1 0 1 0

It’s not about who- it’s about that narrative that some people believe- that the climate has always been changing, so we shouldn’t worry about it

Dublin construction site sees benefit of battery power A Dublin building site has been benefitting from the installation of batteries charged by generators to save on electricity use and reduce reliance on fossil fuels.

Fuel crisis shows some sectors like haulage, farming and construction a long way off being able to quit fossil fuels- completely but where they can there are big savings to be made in cash & carbon

I’m an old bloke myself- and many of the people who make big decisions are still old blokes so I wouldn’t give up on the blokes

4/The climate is now changing in a way that is bringing us out of the hospitable, stable period which has allowed the development of modern farming- bad news for farmers which is bad news for everyone

3/Human civilisation with all its benefits has developed during a period of unusually stable and hospitable climate which has allowed farmers to produce enough food for others to work on advancing medicine, technology, science, culture the arts...

2/No Farmers no Food, I said, of course he said. Modern humans appeared about 300K years ago- started farming between 8k and 12k years. There was food before that (hunter gatherers) but no civilization...

1/ A leader of the #fuelprotest told me last night he doesn't believe in climate change, said the climate has always changed and it was hotter 5 million years ago than it is now. I asked how long farmers have been around. Millions of years, he said...

TBH Ann stand out at a barricade for 12/14 hours or overnight as some of my colleagues have this week and then you can call it lazy

Very interesting article, sentencing for drivers who kill an issue in many countries including Ireland

Thanks to all who contributed to this report- water security both in times of flood and drought becomes more important every year- bogs a big part of the story in Ireland

I do and I use the bike to get around for work, to go out on stories. The e-bike extends my range I covered about 40 km today - and that was fine on the e-bike

Thanks, I think I make that point in the article -a conversation with a doctor a few years ago keeps coming to my mind. Aware of the health benefits he'd like his son to cycle to school but one dangerous junction enroute means he will not..and I've had other similar conversations

4/ Bus Connects promises a better route for bus users and cyclists along the spine that runs through Templeogue, Terenure and Rathmines and they were the among the worst sections for me on the bike and my colleague Barry Gallagher on the bus

5/ Bike is also cheaper way to commute, public transport has improved in recent years. Biggest advantage bike gives for travelling around any city is (I think) certainty- you know how long it is going to take ENDS

4 weeks ago 5 0 1 0

3/ Other parts of the journey could put many off cycling- maybe explaining why increased investment in cycle infrastructure hasn't seen a bigger ⇡ in numbers cycling- any journey only as safe as most dangerous part. Dublin's councils have done a lot but there's a way to go to match other cities

2/ People telling me I was the winner today, I'd have to go well astray not to arrive first- more importantly I think I had the most enjoyable commute. The sections thro parkland beside the Dodder are a joy. Everyone should have the chance of a bit of nature on tjheir commute

Bike, car and bus - which gets to centre of capital first RTÉ News has undertaken a very non-scientific methodology to see how three different modes of transport fared during Dublin's rush-hour.

!/ I doubt anyone will be surprised by the order in which we arrived at Stephens Green

HVO, green aviation fuel, green data centres - so much depends on biofuels which may turn out to be not so green…this type of investigation very important

Interesting thing in Ireland is there are strong county identities and I think it is mainly thanks to the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) - set up to counter British influence & counties are an English model transferred to Ireland
