Thank YOU! I love your posts, and the light you shine.
You're a prince among men, my friend.
I'm so grateful for the amazing information and life-affirming guidance Bluesky users share here. Thanks to @q4eollo.fyi, @cinjaa.bsky.social, @jaybird54.bsky.social and @caregiverwarrior.bsky.social for your help in this issue.

I'm so happy your neighbor has you looking after her! Thank you for your service, truly. It's unimaginable that our loved ones have to deal with grifters and con artists on top of everything else.
Social isolation is one of the greatest risk factors for elder financial #abuse.
#Tip: Maintain contact with family members with regular visits, phone & video calls, emails & texts.
Older people can avoid loneliness by being involved through church, volunteer activities or other social groups.

My chocolate chip cookie looks so happy!
#Tip: To prevent #financialabuse, you can freeze your loved one’s accounts with the 3 main #credit bureaus so no one can open a new credit line in their name.
You can also set up online access to their bank to monitor activity and request fraud alerts.

#Tip: Getting more movement in your day involves being a little sneaky!
• Instead of using the nearest bathroom, choose another one farther away.
• Find a parking spot that isn't close to the front doors when shopping.
• Instead of 2 long daily walks with your dog, take several shorter ones.
Gorgeous! Enjoy your day.
#Tip: Instead of working out for 30 minutes a day, many doctors now encourage patients to simply move their bodies 2-5 minutes every hour.
This seemingly small action packs a big punch with lowering blood sugar and #bloodpressure.

Doing an activity each day, like brushing your teeth or making coffee in the mornings, turns into daily habits.
#Tip: Moving your body purposely can help you make it a daily habit, too.
Find routines in your life where you can tie in #movement breaks, like taking a 5 minute walk between chores.
That's a great idea!

Weapon of the day: there’s plenty of time to work hard. But finding time to relax hard is just as important. Balance is key in caregiving.
As we step into today, may we choose to be shelter for one another—steady, warm, and present. When someone is weathering their storm, let our hearts be the umbrellas that offer calm instead of commentary. Who will you gently cover today? #Jaye’sMorningLight
#Tip: Another great way to stay active is by refusing to sit still!
Even at the office, you can still find ways to burn energy:
• Shaking & fidgeting while sitting.
• Stretching your legs while at the computer.
• Standing up when talking on the phone.
• Organizing files on your tiptoes.
#Tip: Take an #exercise snack to stay healthier!
Getting enough activity in your day is easier when you can break it up in bite-sized "snacks".
Take a TV break and do 12 jumping jacks.
Read for an hour, then walk up & down the stairs 3 times.
Do yoga stretches while rebooting your computer.
I saw quite a bit of this in Portugal as well!
Another great AARP #tip to help with medical costs: Always ask these questions before taking new meds or any tests, surgeries or procedures!
• Why do I need this?
• What happens if I don’t do it?
• Are there side effects?
• Are there lower #cost options?
#Tip: A nonprofit called Patient Advocate Foundation helps with fighting #billing errors, appealing #insurance denials, negotiating payment options, & qualifying for #financial support.
Connect with a case manager to see if your loved one is eligible!

A dear friend here said to me “I think it's ok to be angry, as long as it's manifested appropriately. If I was ok with what’s going on, it would show I support it.” If you’re angry or grieving over our country right now, I’d like to be your friend. I know you have a good soul. #Jaye’sMorningLight
Weapon of the day: you can let a life you didn’t ask for define how you live it or figure out how to make it work your way.
#Tip: The One Big Beautiful Bill Act aims to address child care costs through tax credits.
But analysts warn that its structural restrictions effectively exclude the bottom 20% of low-income households from receiving meaningful support.
Does this surprise anyone?

Farrah, my sweet, slinky tabby. She's lying on the floor and looking up.
Happy #Caturday! Farrah loves to wriggle across the carpet and bask in... whatever is appealing about the carpet, I guess?
#Tip: At home health rehabilitation offers tailored services like fall prevention, wound #care, & ADL re-training that's typically covered by #insurance or #Medicare.
For Medicare-certified home #health, patients need to be qualified as homebound.
