City Shadows An exhibit of traditional black and white darkroom photography.

I was on Flickr until they started charging several years ago and then moved my photos to a Piwigo installation under my own domain (Cityshadows.org).

You have a good eye. Lots of very nice work with an inspiring way of making ordinary things interesting.

Caution: Orgy ahead.

Just kidding. Caution signs aren't usually round.

The template and filters for the old Sigma lens were the wrong size for the rear mount filter holder on the Nikon lens, so I made new ones. I mostly shoot B&W film and use filters with ultrawides a lot.

My old Sigma 14mm lens has become hazy (or something), so I decided to get a Nikon 14mm f2.8 (much better, although also bigger) from KEH. Ordered it yesterday and got it today. Scared the crap outa me when I mounted it on the D850, looked through the viewfinder, and saw this thing coming at me.

If you are into B&W photography and get Netflix, you should consider checking out the series "Ripley" (IMDb 8.1) which is filmed in B&W. The photography is so good that you can almost pause it anywhere and you get a B&W still that most photographers would be proud to have taken themselves.

You did very well! Not being comfortable pointing cameras at people is exactly why I don't do street photography, although I think it would be easier in a major city than in small town Alabama where people are intimidated by any camera larger than an iphone.

Since my old SB-80DX is not the best flash for my new D850, I decided to order an SB-600 graded at EX+ from KEH. It came in immaculate condition and works great.

But, now my old Sigma 14mm lens has haze and I noticed KEH has a nice Nikon 14mm in EX+ condition... The temptation never ends...

Wow! Not a bad haul for a mere two hour walk. Very nice work!

I used the Nikon 16-35mm zoom for the shot above which is a nice lens but has distortion that Ken Rockwell describes as "heinous" and "the most distorting lens I have every used" at the wide end. Thankfully, Nikon DSLRs can fix that, but not completely. I think that feature enabled for this shot.

There have been rumors that Nikon is going to (or already has) quit production of F-mount products. Luckily I bought my F6 just before it went out of production and didn't want to risk missing out on the D850 by continuing to procrastinate.

I like it (and it was on sale). It replaces the F6 body in my APE shoulder bag perfectly. I was planning on getting a D780, but I really wanted the flash sync connector and the 10-pin remote connector, both of which I use pretty regularly.

A Nikon D850. I got tired of dealing with airport x-ray machines and wanted a digital body that would accept all my Nikon lenses that I could take on trips instead of my F6.

I've been experimenting with my first serious digital camera. For someone like me, with few artistic skills, who is interested more in the craft, digital is a completely different universe. I doubt it will ever supplant my interest in analog, but I can see how someone can be seduced by HDR...

Thanks, Taylor. On the part of the roof over the pumps facing the highway, it says Haunted Maze, so it does have a story to tell that I'm not privy to.

I like Toronto. If it had been up to me, I would have had it built closer to where I live.

Moody. In fact, the second shot reminds me of the movie, Little Shop of Horrors...

Noticed an abandoned gas station outside Arab, AL during a road trip and went back later to snap a few. Not as picturesque as I hoped, but I shot a roll of HP5+ with the Hy6 (50mm lens), developed in Rodinal 1:50, and printed on Ilford Cooltone RC. Scans are from the prints.

I remember seeing photographs from Elton John's collection exhibited in the High Museum of Art in Atlanta. It was epic. Jane Jackson of Jackson Fine Art curated the collection for years. www.christies.com/en/events/th...

Amazing project. Seems quite challenging, but I'm the kind of person who is completely paralyzed by the prospect of even developing negatives outside of my own familiar darkroom.
