I know a guy who rented a room from a naive elderly woman. Over time he earned her trust to the point she removed her kids from the will and left him the house.

I thought of him when I found out Mike Elias had President of Baseball Operations added to his title.

He was creative while working with arm behind his back. At least I never doubted he was trying to make the Major League team better. With Elias a lot of times it seems like he’s more concerned with the minor leagues.

I liked Duquette, I liked MacPhail too. I think the O’s have had 3 good executives in a row but these things run their courses. I never understood why the fanbase hates DD after taking them to the postseason 3 times after the 98-11 tire fire. He built the 94 Expos and the bones of the 04 Red Sox.

Rogers has been outspoken about the mental aspect of his game and he might be putting too much pressure on himself to carry the consistent failures of the 3 guys behind him. Last year was pressure free because the season was pretty much over by the time he was called back up.
