“She’s the exception, I am the rule.”
Such articulate cutting through of the nonsense around puberty blockers and eg Keira Bell’s detransitioning from Stephanie Lynnette on GMB this morning. It is also a refreshing relief to see a trans person actually being allowed to speak for once!

A lot of us use blocklists, and the UKCLA is on some of them because of platforming of Michael Foran. So I’m sharing the link.

Sounds great!
Thanks. Now it’s stuck in my head too
The concept of gender identity is useful and should not be discarded. The mistake was to allow the reification of "sex" as some separate, concrete thing that aligns with, and reifies, cisgender gender identities. 1/
So. have I read this right?
In their wisdom, a bray of judges has ruled that it's OK for trans women to share public loos with cis women they've never met...
...but absolutely not OK for them to share a loo with a workplace colleague.
That makes perfect (non)sense.
question for @bphillipsonmp.bsky.social - in the last week:
▪️ the 🏴 lab leader has taken a strong trans-exclusionary position
▪️the gov said they are 'softening' the ehrc bathroom bill (contradicting your last statement)
▪️the ehrc itself has denied this
which -if any- is the official position?
“If the Equality Act really does mean [the transphobic argument following FWS], then the court should rule that that is incompatible with the European Convention on Human Rights.”
Makes this a much riskier case for FWS because it means their previous ‘win’ can be gutted:
The figures here also show that 7% of all child suicides were trans children. That compares with trans children making up only 1% of the population.
Trans kids are seven times as likely to die by suicide as cis kids and all this government can do is make things worse and cover these figures up.

Duane Kearns Puryear, holding his panel for the AIDS Memorial Quilt. It reads, in block letters: "My name is Duane Kearns Puryear. I was born on December 20, 1964. I was diagnosed with AIDS on September 7, 1987 at 4:45 PM. I was 22 old. Sometimes, it makes me very sad. I made this panel myself. If you are reading it, I am dead..." There are several great resources to learn about Duane, his advocacy, his family, his panel, and the politics of memory and re-creation, especially this one by The Dallas Way: http://www.thedallasway.org/stories/written/2021/9/19/duane-puryears-and-the-quilt-panel Duane Puryear died in 1991.
It's your birthday, Duane.
Trans Safety Network are concerned to see that NHS England have committed to expanding the role of the National Research Oversight Board for Children and Young People’s Gender Services to cover audit and research for adult patients too.

Today the findings of the Levy Review into adult trans healthcare have been published.
We’re still digesting the report in full, and will be discussing its findings with trans-led organisations.
I think freedom of association is the most glaring weakness in the current gender critical legal position in the UK, and probably the issue that will force a legal change.
I'm on my way to a Chanukah event. It should be a celebration but instead our community is once again mourning.
I will be thinking of everyone in Australia and those around the world in the Jewish Community who know this fear and loss.
We stand with you.

Congrats!!
Gender Identity Clinic's Waiting Lists from Shortest To Longest
Support for staying in the ECHR has been rising (probably a Farage effect of solidifying the majority who oppose him, maybe Trump osmosis effect). Media and political opinion on the right believes there is a strong public desire to quit. Badenoch has now committed the Conservatives to quitting.
Imagine you're in a weird romcom where Paul Hollywood is your rival. Do you go "let's have a bread baking competition" or do you emphasise your own relative strengths?
Because that in short has been the central problem with the traditional two's approach to anti-immigration voters and Reform UK.
Given Streeting embraced anti trans hate both in his words and actions, I find his faux acknowledgement that trans people now feel less safe both risible and vile.
He is no friend of the trans community, and I wouldn't trust him to hold the line against racism either.

Depends on whether you visit a website that uses Facebook ads and has their advertising pixel installed. If you do, that sends data to Facebook, which allows them to send ads based on your interests. They can do this even if you don’t own a Facebook account 😬
The real threat to women has never been trans women seeking to live their lives with dignity. The real threat remains what it has always been: a culture that enables male violence and then blames everyone except the men who perpetrate it. We refuse to be complicit in this misdirection. We refuse to allow our experiences to be weaponised against other women. We refuse to stay silent while our trans sisters are demonised in our name. Our liberation is bound together. Our safety depends on solidarity. Our future requires that we stand united against the forces that seek to divide us. Trans people are our siblings. Their fight is our fight. Their safety is our safety. Their dignity is our dignity. - Not In Our Name (NION) Women If you are a cis* woman and you agree with this sentiment and wish to show your support for the trans+ community, please add your signature to this letter.
Alternatively, if you are a woman who thinks trans rights and women’s rights go hand in hand, sign here! ❤️🤗

Good news. The Scottish Government has now adopted the position I’ve been pushing for all along.
I may no longer be with the SNP, but I’m genuinely happy to see former colleagues carrying it forward.

Define biological female/male
"Well if you're born with..."
No. The biological definition. As in what biology you have now. Not the historical definition. The biological definition of a butterfly isn't the same as a caterpillar
