Bagel. That’s what’s up.

Thankfully, behind the scenes, the team has been working on some really cool stuff. I can’t wait to share it with people. At any rate, I am home, I am recovering and I plan on getting back to working on these games that I love so much. I hope you are all well.

Well, just a few updates from me - after a 41 day stint in the hospital/rehab - I am home now. My legs are still pretty useless after spinal surgery. I’m in a wheelchair at home, but I’m resting and recovering better. I start home physical therapy on Tuesday, and hopefully we can get my legs working

But I will be back to working on all the games and projects that I have been missing and I’m excited about what’s coming up because we have some really cool stuff brewing behind the scenes. I might’ve been hospitalized, but the team isn’t and they were doing some really cool things while I was away.

But hopefully, I’ll be home soon. I’ve been in the hospital for over a month now and I miss my home my kids, and my cats! I’ll continue rehab at home as an outpatient, and I will need a wheelchair to go any kind of distance. I’ll be able to use walk around my house. Recovery is slow.

Learning how to walk again has been really crazy; something that I had been doing for over four decades subconsciously is now something that I am striving to do while thinking of all the different muscle groups that have to activate in order to make one stand and walk. It’s kind of wild.

I’ve been in rehabilitation following my spinal surgery… my legs have been slowly “waking up” and yesterday I stood for the first time during Physical Therapy. Then later in the day I took my first steps using the parallel bars. It’s been slow going, but I’m starting to make progress.

Headed into surgery for my spine tonight! Hopefully this will alleviate my issues and I can walk again.

Yeah I mean I have to go fund me that my friend set up for me years ago and it’s still going on. People can still donate there and that will definitely help. The insurance will cover 80%, but I’ll still have to come up with like $1000.

Hopefully the surgery will be successful, but I’m still going to have a pretty long recovery and it looks like I need to get moving faster on getting that mobility wheelchair. Just another complication in my long history of health problems. My surgeon was a really cool guy though. I have hope.

And CT scans along with X-rays and this morning, the spinal surgeon and forwarded me that I have massive spinal stenosis in my thoracic vertebrae that has rendered my legs useless. I will be having surgery this week laminectomy to hope to resolve this. If you have fingers, cross em for me?

Well folks, I am here to update you… I have currently been in the hospital all weekend as I have lost the use of my legs. My condition has been slowly deteriorating for the last six months and I came home from Dialysis on Friday unable to get up or walk. They had spinal surgeon examine me with MRI

I know! Having QFI and Colossal Cave on both my switch and my Xbox is a trip for me too. Like… two video games I have worked on are available in consoles. That means I’m like actually semi legit. Heh. At any rate I hope you are doing really well!

Yeah, walking dead man’s are a big ugh.

Some people complain about deaths in Adventure games, especially Sierra games, but for me, half the fun was discovering some of the funny and interesting deaths. I know that when we made Quest for Infamy, we tried to create some fun & interesting ways to die and equally fun death messages.

I need to get a new computer chair. I need something a little more comfy and ergonomic for my back. It’s hard to sit at my computer for any length of time lately.

Just sitting here thinking about what a great dude @dwarvenjester.bsky.social is. I’m thinking about how I have to catch up with him sometime soon… I’m so busy during the holidays. I didn’t get in touch with everybody that I really wanted to. Judt settling now into January, should be fun

I was just thinking about people that I used to talk to on Twitter a lot, who I haven’t heard from in years. Either they stopped using social media or they left Twitter… but there were people that I used to just casually converse with that I miss. Losing touch happens. I always like saying hi.

And my first transplant from my father… who I sat across the table from today, and admired what a great man I was lucky enough to have my father in my life. Thankful is such a large word, but I feel like it comes so short of how I feel. I’m just glad to be here still.

I have had amazing people take care of me and help me live another 23 years past what should’ve been my expiration date. I often think of my donor families… my second and third Transplant came from deceased donors. Families who decided to donate organs on the worst day of their life. They saved me.

Just feeling extra thankful today. I got to sit down for another amazing meal with my family, and with my kids. The fact that I’m even here still is a miracle and I’m here because of the generosity of so many. Especially my organ donors. Sigh. Between them and the good crew at the dialysis centers.
