For this piece, I was inspired by Gustav Klimt's painting, "The Kiss", which is thought to depict a tender and passionate true love. I thought it would be interesting to illustrate a maggot-infested, all-consuming love instead.

The same image as the left, but zoomed out— you can see the whole cocoon in this image, dripping with viscous fluid. The droplets form the words "恋情", meaning love sickness.
