We have still not had a batted ball reach 117.0 MPH.

Tonight's Orioles-DBacks game is the third time on record to achieve this feat.
The other two:
Brewers @ Reds, May 7, 2016
Tigers @ Brewers, June 1, 2021

Your HR leader among #1 overall draft picks is, in fact, Mickey Moniak. He's got 5 now— 2 ahead of Bryce Harper.
Every punch looked big specifically because they knew they weren't going to connect. Pure eyewash.
Tapping my helmet after the pitcher completely whiffs on his first punch.
btw for the record i just want to state that the punches the LAA broadcast described as "serious haymakers" were complete half-effort attempts at *best*
a baseball broadcast featuring the braves and angels, both benches have cleared and are on the field after a skirmish between players
everyone: omg people are fighting
me: WAS A CHALLENGE INVOLVED
everyone: ...what?
Ross was Ben Lindbergh’s only draftee to appear in the majors, and had 22 batters faced.
Some Minor League Free Agent Draft news…
(also the playoffs are a totally different context and doesn't feel in the spirit of the exercise)
Nope, too recently, needs to be 2023 season or earlier
Starters generally have bullpen sessions scheduled between their turn in the rotation. A listener email asked why teams don't just have starters appear in relief on the day they're going to be throwing in the bullpen anyways.
/3 Yes, I used 'it's' incorrectly in the first post. Please respect my privacy during this difficult time.
/2 Our inquiry: In Ep 305, Ben predicts that a pitcher will throw an in-game bullpen session within 10 years. Sam thinks that if it were doable, it would already be happening.
Can anyone provide evidence of such an occurrence before the end of the 2023 season?
A picture of the Bat-signal being lit up against the night sky of Gotham City, only the Batman logo has been replaced with the atom/baseball from the EWStats logo
🧵/1 Okay, EWStats sometimes could use some help scrounging up more esoteric info, so we're starting a new thing: the *STAT SIGNAL*. We're putting out the call to EW listeners to help us find the answers to burning questions from the podcast and it's competitions and/or 'prop bet' games.
It turns out we can, in fact, have nice things once in awhile
...huh.
Artemis II has already launched but I can't help but note we've had our second 116.9 MPH hit, this time by Ketel Marte
"Jo Adell robs 3 home runs in a single game" would have been a SICK prediction
Konnor Griffin has earned 0.1 fWAR in his first game, meaning he is now mathematically on pace for 15.6 by season's end.
Verlander missing time not helping our prediction, but on the plus side, this might factor into his first start going so rough.
welcome to the resistance bsky.app/profile/ewst...
KONNOR GRIFFIN COME ON DOWN
Artemis II has launched!
Michael Baumann's prediction is declared TRUE, and is now in the lead of the Preseason Predictions Game!
Tatis at the plate with 1 minute to go!
Ben Rice Home Run, *108.2* MPH!
Julio strikes out. Might be the last legit threat (assuming launch goes as scheduled)
Less than 7 minutes to go!
