It DO just be like that sometimes

More on that film session, and what the Sixers believe they can fix:

Sixers practiced today at Harvard, and had a “long” film session.
“It was pretty painful to watch,” Nick Nurse said. “We did a lot of things not very well. A lot of things not very well…lots to look at and lots to talk about.”
Per the Sixers, Joel Embiid has begun a strength and conditioning program in Philly as part of his recovery from his appendectomy.
ICYMI: Dispatch from a brutal Game 1 in Boston, where the Sixers could not make a shot but were perhaps more irritated about their poor defense.
“They had a lot of possessions where they just walked to the rim for easy layups…and that's not playoff basketball."

The Sixers' defense offered "no resistance" in their Game 1 blowout loss to Celtics and "you’re not going to win like that," @ginamizell.bsky.social writes.

FINAL: Celtics 123, Sixers 91. Sixers shot a horrid 4-of-23 from three-point range. Maxey with 21 points on 8-of-20 shooting and 7 assists. Tatum (25-11-7) and Brown (26 and 4) looked like themselves. Feels like an uphill battle for the Sixers to make this a competitive series.
Game 2 is Tuesday.
Celtics starting to empty the bench too, with Tatum coming out and Brown already there.
Maxey checks out at the 8:11 mark and we might not see him again. Sixers then promptly commit a shot-clock violation on their ensuing possession.
It is now a 30-point Boston lead.
Celtics 95, Sixers 71 at the end of the third. Sixers had generated a bit of momentum, before another Boston flurry to end the period. Sixers still shooting under 40 percent and a disastrous 3-of-20 from three-point range. Maxey with 21 points on 8-of-20 shooting and 7 assists.
Many issues plaguing the Sixers, but Quentin Grimes is supposed to be giving them a scoring spark off the bench. He hasn't even taken a shot.
Make or miss league: After going 5-of-10 from beyond the arc against Orlando, Oubre has missed all five of his attempts so far today.
The Sixers were making a bit of a push, but that turnover that became a Brown three-pointer was huge. Vucevic follows with his own trey and suddenly it's 79-58 again.
About the only thing the Sixers have done right so far today, given how Queta torched them in their last regular-season meeting.
No cheering on press row unless it's for Red Panda.
Drummond is starting the second half for the Sixers.
Nothing but respect for my 🐐
Halftime: Celtics 64, Sixesrs 46. Sixers were outclassed in virtually every way. No offensive rhythm (33 percent from the floor, 2-of-16 from three, 9 turnovers). Leaky defense. Tatum has 21-8-4. Maxey with 14 points on 5-of-14 shooting and 5 assists.
Red Panda is here to save us all at halftime.
This has the makings of a long and short series all at the same time.
Celtics 33, Sixers 18 at the end of the first. Just a complete shellacking on both ends. Sixers shot 6-of-21 (1-of-9 from three) and committed six turnovers. Boston shot 14-of-25 and 4-of-9 from deep. Tatum had 10 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists.
Just kidding. We've got a Barlow-PG-Oubre frontcourt now with Maxey and Grimes.
It is a common foul. And Drummond will stay out there for now.
The Boston defense is just locked in, PG has Brown on him, Tatum waiting to help, White zoning up the weakside, just no where to go. Brown gets a deflection, White gets the steal, Tatum gets the transition layup.
And now Drummond has two ofouls with 4:39 still to play in the first quarter. It will be reviewed for a flagrant.
Celtics with the early 15-7 lead. Celtics are 6-of-9 from the field. Sixers have already committed four turnovers. Both starting centers have two fouls.
And now two fouls after Bona picks up an offensive foul. Drummond quickly in the game.
Less that one minute, one foul on Bona. Neemias Queta destroyed the Sixers in their last meeting and the Celtics immediately feed him and he gets to the line.
Bona will start Game 1. Read more about the task facing him and Drummond in this series👇🏻
