Me realizing New Jersey commuter rail has better headways than Trimet MAX

There are more than 2,500 park-and-ride parking spaces in several massive garages immediately adjacent to MARTA's Lindbergh Center station.
Daily ridership at this station circa 2015 was 23,000, or TEN TIMES the number of park-and-ride spots.
For residential uses, floor area shall not exceed an amount equal to six hundred ninety-six-one thousandths times gross lot area.
Doing some national TOD research and it's gratifying to see that ridiculous code provisions aren't limited to WA

The SP-500 is up 40% since Tump was inaugurated. Everything anyone's ever said about market reaction to instability, tariffs, war, oil, presidential leadership, international leverage, etc is bullshit. All they want is corruption.
The fact that for a really good chunk of recent mammal evolution, ungulates held down not only most of the herbivore niches, but many of the big predator ones, is a very weird thing to get your head around from a modern perspective
Sorry Canby
Surprising/not surprising that the places and routes I find interesting invariably turn out to have been on a rail line at one point.
I sense something, a presence I haven't felt since...
I knew Portland was consistently warmer than Port Angeles, but I did not realize how often BELLINGHAM was also significantly warmer than PA.
I find it easier to make precise mouse movements plus it's quieter. These cool custom ones cost like $15 so "worth it" is a low bar.
Hey this is random but I want to plug Ultimate Custom Mouse Pad. Custom high-resolution images, easy to order, free shipping, good prices. I've got a couple now for myself and one as a gift and they're great.

Seems like such a no-brainer!
I would really like some simple parametric 3D modeling software to visualize basic massing from zoning outcomes that doesn't cost thousands of dollars. Any recommendations?
and now you can take light rail there!
I've heard Bellevue Brewing in the Spring District is good for this
I don't have a good sense of the arts orgs, but most levels of government in Portland including schools are facing pretty serious cutbacks.

A lightbulb moment for me was looking at old photos of urban roads with no or barely any lane markings and realizing how inefficiently that space was used. Bike and transit infra and narrow is expensive, but it's how we wring the most value out of scarce urban roadways.
just because you tax land value rather than property value doesn't mean the voters can't vote to cap assessed value by some arcane formula
I want to do it sort of but really I want to commission XKCD to do it
How about a side-by-side infographic comparing Measure 5+50, Prop 13, and Washington's I-747?
almost like they wanted to make sure there would never be enough people that understand it enough to change it
Dumb in surprisingly complicated ways too.

Learning about Oregon's property tax system today, and wow, it's pretty dumb.
A white dog mascot wearing a white middle bowl as a hat and a brown skirt kneels on some grass in front of some trees.
Sanomaru, the mascot of Sano City, is a samurai puppy with a ramen bowl on his head and potato skewer swords.
My favorite street on the hill - but we need to extend apartment zoning further north and east. Part of what's so delightful about the area is the gradual transition in density and mix of old and new bldgs.
Maybe they should switch it up and become a shoe company
