They Built Stepford AI and Called It “Agentic” Women’s “ick” for AI isn’t technophobia or a gap to close. It’s wisdom to act on.

“The “ick” is recognition. The body remembering what it was asked to be.”

One hell of a read.

i have this very vivid memory of being 6 and looking at myself in the mirror and trying to imagine what i would look like as an adult and i could *only* picture myself as an adult man. i literally could not see myself as a woman.

when ppl whip out the "most girls wish they were boys that doesn't mean they're TRANS" argument i'm just like. i don't think i ever wished i was a boy, it was more that i genuinely struggled to comprehend myself as a girl, lol

Ooops All Trans A-Z Booktitle Challenge that I did in 2025. Wohoo! I'm really happy that I managed to finish this challenge this year especially since I decided to only count trans books for it. Also this looks gorgeous. #samreads.

Jess Bauldry – ANMLY

"Every morning at breakfast, the same routine played out. But today there wasn’t even an ashtray on the table. Just two slices of charred toast under the grill. And a jet-black feather on the table, at the place where Sarah normally sits."

I remember the first time I read an author describe a woman as fat and beautiful and happy, and she was a side character who was a maid, who got married and became a baker and lived happily ever after with pastries and chocolate and I wish the story had been about her.

Baby,
Meg Mellor
first of two images

I was born
sprinting.
I bled through every mile of this gender.
Call me deviant.
Call me boy-dyke, fag, she-he, they/it, “transtrender”
—Wrong.
I’ll bedazzle every name on my leather.
I don’t run
for anyone—
but me.
Not for the crowd, not for the finish line—
I run for that anger inside,
That beast,
The hunger that never quits.
For the teenage-self that craved locker-room smirks,
and girl-forsaken grit.
I run because the fire in me won’t go out.
I’m full
of want,
& rage
& something feral
You couldn’t name if I bent you over,
and spelled it across your back in bite marks.
Something that only post-nut clarity could bring

second of two images
a queer
out-of-the-closet.
I run because every “sir” or “ma’am” is a muzzle.
I learned to bite back in syllables
that split lips—
mine and theirs.
I broke through the stained-glass cage
and left the comfort
of conformity—heteronormativity.
I fought my way out with bloodied hands and beamed at the splinters
gripped by my fists like trophies.
I run because I am the animal
You tried to leash.

The cover of engendered autumn 2025 on a background of dark grey.
On the cover is a heavily textured painting by Jude FireSong consisting of layers of colour, first daubed or smeared, and then speckled. Dominant are red, orange, yellow, light blue, and medium blue though purple, green, and pink also make an appearance.

Beside and below the cover is the following text:
20 writers, poets, & artists
“as I move through the world, people project images of bodies and faces they assign onto me that evoke in themselves desire, lust, joy, disgust, emotions I have no say over. Perceptions against my will. And those images stain my skin and reek. I'm forced every day to carry those stains”

mom gender-bent her mother’s name to give me my middle name. it’s not the only thing of grandma’s that i am. i wear her crooked smile. i look just like her daughter. mom says “god gifted me with three beautiful boys” and i say “something like that.” i don’t know if it’s sacrilege or a coming out. i think it’s neither. maybe it’s nothing. she still thinks i’ll raise a child. she says “you never know, maybe when you find the right guy,” then gets puzzled when i tell her i’d adopt. maybe she forgot that i don’t have a uterus. sometimes i forget, too.

i used to daydream as a woman. i wonder why i stopped.
