I joined with Senator Ben Allen to read the names of the 31 people who died in the #Eaton and #Palisades Fires. During the Senate Floor ceremony on Monday, we acknowledged the devastation caused and the grief throughout the community.

Thank you to everyone who has supported this legislation!
I also must express my deep appreciation to the group of survivors who bravely stood up and publicly shared their stories of trauma to protect students, including at this morning’s press conference in Pasadena. Their commitment to this vital legislation will prevent future abuse.
I am so grateful to the Governor for signing my SB 848, the Safe Learning Environments Act, into law. This law will protect children from sexual misconduct committed by school employees.
Here is my statement on the Trump Administration’s actions to investigate the California State University (CSU) over allegations of antisemitism and racial discrimination.
October is Filipino American History Month. California is home to our nation’s largest population of Filipino Americans with over 1.6 million residents, also making them the state's largest Asian community. This month we commemorate the many contributions and the history of Filipino Americans.
I got my start in public service on the LA community college board—I know that too many students struggle to afford school and rely on lifelines like Medicaid & SNAP.
Proud to bring together local leaders to discuss how we can support students through Trump's devastating cuts.
Such an incredible opportunity to participate in the Regrow Altadena event as I helped distribute the fir regrow kits to families 🌱 The kits, filled with Native Bloom seeds, included a message of resilience as we begin planting the seeds of recovery and empower the next generation.
Such a pleasure attending the BizFed Freshman Policymakers Reception with my fellow elected leaders! I appreciate the opportunity to join newly elected policymakers who came together to discuss their priorities and get to know one another better. Thank you BizFed for hosting this wonderful event!
💥 Most law enforcement are now required to publicly display their agency and name or badge number.
💥 Schools are now required to work with families and personnel to develop notification protocols when immigration authorities are present on campus.
💥 Most federal officers are now banned from concealing their faces.
The new laws I just enacted are a direct response to Trump's lawless immigration raids and arrests in California.
California is fighting to end this chaos by:
💥 Requiring schools and public hospitals to limit access and implement privacy protocols to protect against Trump’s immigration chaos.
Public safety hinges on the trust between law enforcement and the communities they serve — a bond that's been shredded by the reckless immigration quotas ordered by Donald Trump and Stephen Miller.
We will keep standing up for Californians against this administration's dangerous actions.
SB 98 and SB 805 have been signed into law and will immediately begin delivering protection and accountability in the face of cruel immigration enforcement raids! Thank you @governor.ca.gov for believing in this legislation.
Thank you Amrit Singh and Inside the Issues for inviting me to discuss my #wildfire recovery and #immigration bills! It is so important for the Governor to sign these bills into law to give Californians the support they need at this critical time.
What an exciting morning with President Eanes and the wonderful crew from CSULA at the 79th annual East LA Parade! President Eanes and I participated in the 79th Mexican Independence Day Parade, hosted by the Comité Mexicano Cívico Patriótico, along with hundreds of Angelenos proud of our heritage 🇲🇽
