The year is 1996. It's Christmas. You are 12 years old. And you get your first boom box and very first compact disc. That CD? New Edition "Home Again"
Fast forward 30 (😵💫🙃🫨) years and, when you hear any of those songs randomly on Spotify, you will still know and sing every single word

I got you. the more I learn, the more I am in total awe of my ancestors. those of us here now are truly here by brute fucking force, and I'm so humbled and grateful that I am a part of this lineage. I would choose to be black in every single lifetime 💜
and it dawned on me that so much of what I learned is because I was taught to hate myself from a very early age. and not just to outwardly hate stuff (like hair, body shape, etc.) but I was deprived of the knowledge of what really happened to my ancestors. it's been eye opening learning the truth.
@mekka.mekka-tech.com something that I've been doing lately is questioning my own anti-blackness. as a black person in the US who went to catholic school in the midwest for 12 years, I realized (at my big ass age of 41) that I have to question *why* I have some opinions and where they came from.
yes we love a rich woke baddie 💪

Imagine being so evil that you force a church that was spawned from straight-up hate of another church to join forces and call out how evil you are. Crazy work.
we are not talking about this enough!!!!!!

Just. Tax. Them.
This is like watching a liberal dad explain to his incel son why hating women because they're women is wrong
I saw an interview where a reporter asked them what they wanted the legacy of this mission to be and they said (paraphrasing) they wanted it to be forgotten. bc each mission is a stepping point for the next and the most important thing is advancement. thank god for this crew; for scientists 🥹💜☄️
the more I learn about them, the more I’m just so grateful that we got to experience all of this with these four incredible individuals. we need their joy and passion right now, and I’m so thankful they’re willing to give it 💕
these are the stupidest people to ever live
"It’s a bright spot on the moon,” CSA astronaut Jeremy Hansen said, his voice breaking up, “and we would like to call it Carroll.”
The crew all shared a hug after.

SAEED! 😭
Sad news: I'm currently doing two incredibly annoying things (writing a book and training for a Hyrox) and they are both indeed my entire personality. It's gotta be absolutely insufferable to be one of my friends right now 😩
The hubs and I binged this show last year! It was truly genius!
Guys remember when we had phone booths? Remember when those phone booths had phonebooks?
Wow look at me and my middle age.
for sure. I cannot stress enough how much I adored OBAA, like I genuinely could have watched that cast in that story forever. I mean Benecio?! LEO??! so good! But sinners gave culture and nuance and depth…I get why it didn’t win, but I can’t help but be disappointed. Anyway, a great year for film 💜
I just feel like sinners was so creative and unique and thought provoking and risk taking and OBAA was made to be an Oscar bait movie. And the academy just couldn’t help itself. I loved it and enjoyed it and appreciated it, but I just feel like Sinners took risks and it worked. Ugh. Tough choice.
I’m so torn. Sinners to be was a more interesting film, but OBAA was just so compelling and passionate and I get why it won. It really did have “best picture” written all over it. But sinners was just so damn creative and thoughtful. Ugh this was tough! But I get it.
This movie was a journey that took me on an emotional rollercoaster and I didn’t want it to end. A true masterpiece, and not just bc Leo is a ✨movie star✨ - a stunning portrayal of humanity and passion and heart.
With that said, I’m squinting at the academy because Sinners was fucking genius.

When one of us wins, we all win 🥹💪💜
that's exactly it, Linda. this is all bullshit.
Rooting for any- and everything Sinners but she was **so good** in this role. Creepy, engaging, kind of rooted for her even though she was a villain. Happy for her. Well deserved.
