SFUSD Was a Pioneer in Ethnic Studies. Now the Program Could Be Put on Pause | KQED After mounting pushback, San Francisco’s superintendent of schools is considering pausing the district’s ethnic studies program, according to teachers and a school board member.

Furious and devastated about this. SFUSD Ethnic Studies was exactly the reason why I was drawn to the district in the first place. Please show up and support Ethnic Studies in SFUSD!! www.kqed.org/news/1204612...

Sometimes teaching is printing out a GQ article about Timothee Chalamet and making up a pretend homework assignment so a lonely middle school student who's frustrated about the tedium of the day after school has something to look forward with you tomorrow.

I miss the days when your Internet persona was decidedly split from your real life. I was very young then but tbh it was helpful to have that split and know that none of it should spill into one's personal life. growing up, it made me more critical and careful with what I consumed or put out there.

Crystal Palace have done it. They have won their first ever major trophy.

Oliver Glasner's side beat Manchester City 1-0 in the FA Cup final at Wembley.

Selhurst Park's immortals.

Something that people overlook about The Acolyte is the throwaway line where The Stranger basically says that "sith" is a term for anyone who does not follow the teaching of the Jedi. This was hundreds of years before ANH.

This should make subsequent mention of the Sith by the Jedi questionable.

You're probably aware of all these distinctions, but I liked Coogler's breakdown on film formats

Think suspensions are key to classroom order? Think again. Evidence from Chicago public high schools shows that reducing suspensions through restorative justice doesn’t harm learning—and improves school climate, especially for Black students. By @aadukia.bsky.social .

12 UC Berkeley students' visas restored by ICE in nationwide reversal At UC Berkeley, 12 students have had their status restored today after 23 were terminated since April 4.

One of the happiest updates I’ve written since I started following this story. 12 students back in status and maybe more to come. Across the country, students are saying their SEVIS is back.

so struck by @airealejoi.bsky.social's presentation with an amazing team on the ethics of witnessing racial harm as educational researchers! really sitting on the idea of burying as death and burying as life, and methodological opportunities to better understand the work of witnessing with care.

Being a bad teacher isn’t a moral failure. You can be a bad teacher and a good person.

But you shouldn’t stay a bad teacher without trying to get better and/or walking away.

Some thing I'm proud of implementing in our hiring process:
- a short answer application instead of a cover letter
- threading values throughout the hiring process
- performance task for everyone
- being clear and upfront with the expectations rather than abiding by implicit norms

Trump and Republicans can lie about their plan to cut taxes for the rich, but votes don’t lie.
Trump and Republicans can lie about their plan to cut taxes for the rich, but votes don’t lie. YouTube video by Senator Elizabeth Warren

Trump and Republicans can lie about their plan to cut taxes for the rich, but votes don’t lie.

We asked them: will you rule out tax cuts for those making over $1 billion? Republicans voted no.

So we tried no tax cuts for $1 billion companies like Amazon? No.

That says it all.

Watching a music class today-- seeing a room of all dyslexic students make music is so special! You can see how it really, truly plays to their strengths and how connected they feel as neurodivergent learners. Specialty classes ARE core academic classes!!
