Some groups, like...any decent historian?

Had my juniors watch and critique the 2021 Gordon Wood-Woody Holton debate. A grand old time talking about historiography for an hour afterwards.
(Holton won, they thought, with almost no dissent.)
I've said it before. He's not playing 3 dimensional chess. He's playing a kazoo.
I miss the days when presidents lied about intending to wipe out entire civilizations.
And that they're the ones who generated true hatred on the right. No weeping for the future Fox News consultants, though, I admit.
Yeah but Nazi Kens are really no better.
I'm dating myself so hard but I'll always have a special place for Immigrant Women in the Land of Dollars. Absolutely gorgeous prose.
There's that famous line in just about every peace treaty saying that one side reserves the right to continue bombing the other side after the fighting ends. You know, the standard "spot hits" clause so popular with negotiators.
We are so, so screwed.
I knew Trump was dumb enough to get us into a war. I just assumed he was too lazy to do so.
A secret service agent assigned to the Bidens shot himself in the foot. As symbols go, I find it a bit heavyhanded. 7.5/10 for the clunky writing.
Grapes of Wrath. My parents thought that was good fifth grade reading material. I didn't understand a word of it.
Still not my favorite book, not even my favorite 1930s book, but it has its moments, definitely.
Absolutely. Have a bunch of masked thugs patrolling airports. Nothing at all could go wrong there.
I love how the Trump administration is so sure of how the war plays out from here.
Because, historically, people predicting the future of a war just about always get it right. Of course they do.
My college, where every request is met with the response that we have no money, just offered $200 to any faculty who will talk about the cool ways they're using AI in the classroom.
They have already had to extend the deadline, because nobody was taking them up on it.
Anyone else go nuts when a TV show shows a tiny little phone on the screen for twelve seconds and thinks we can read the text messages?
Did I sign up for a vision test when I subscribed to this streaming service?
Dennis Quaid knew about the attack on Iran before Hakeem Jeffries did.
We finished a container of feta so I'm not allowed to speak again for the rest of the night. I consider that entrapment. Who WOULDNT make eight or nine jokes about it being "feta accompli?"
Gavin Nelson is the worst possible candidate the Democrats could choose to represent them so there's a decent chance he'll be the nominee.
I don't know your fish but I'll do my best to make it open, I guess.
I'm sorry! Genuinely never occurred to me but of course it should have. Sigh.
I like AP a lot. But sometimes they write things that... Well...
All right, snow. You win.
My son is always at his most endearing when he's sleepiest. He just said, very earnestly, "Daddy, I love you and I'm sure if I have kids someday, you'll be their grandfather."
Can I give extra points for the student who mixed up the Fifth Amendment and Fifth Commandments? I kind of like that she's interested in both...
I am in the trenches here and yes it is exhausting. The goal I stated to my boss (because I am one of the few people here who stands between the AI hype machine and faculty/students) is that I am just trying to keep this institution from fully beclowning itself. Because that is what is going on.
It's university admins who are allowing tech bros just shoot AI BS direct into their veins....and forcing universities to adopt these platforms that are irreparably damaging to higher ed.
I say the Democrats hold out for ten days before they cave on ICE. Because it's what they know how to do.
Anyone think they can hold out longer?
It's rough having two different sports things I don't care about happening at once.
Without naming your job, tell me something you say over and over again at work.
"They hired ANOTHER Dean?!"
Seriously it's been every other week this year.
