{whispers: is this how you use bluesky?}

This makes sense to me and eliminates the annoying (for authors, particularly debut) practice of seeking blurbs.
It'd function as an endorsement in the same way a movie staring X actor lends credibility to X director's debut.
If you loved other books edited by a certain editor, it should be easier to find other books they've edited. If it's a new author, but their agent is your favorite author's agent: ditto.
Doing a sort of movie credits sort of approach to books, i.e. a page that lists the editor, publicist, agent, etc. Not in the acknowledgments but as a part of the copyright page or something.
So, if you want to cut out blurbs, do it. But, how about bringing in the other credentials that might boost a readers interest in a title?
But that highlights an immediate difference in these industries that has always nagged at me. That he'd say director, not writer, in this example. It's already acknowledging that film is better at showcasing the many people it takes to put together a project.
Sean Manning, says it like, yeah, you wouldn't ask another director to recommend your movie.
I kinda like blurbs. But I get they're cumbersome and don't really do much needle-moving for a general reader. So S&S's decision to no longer require them seems fine....

(aside: I was reading my 5 year-old Charlotte's Web last night and did you know Eudora Welty BLURBED Charlotte's Web!?!?!?)
So now I'm here to weigh in on the blurb discourse because absolutely no one has been asking what I think
Ever since I stopped using Twitter, I keep forgetting there's a platform to share my unsolicited thoughts.
