From climate science and the right of necessity, to the collapse of democratic norms and the illusions of secular reason, this is a radical call to rethink justice, truth, and duty in the face of extinction.

We’ve Been Talking About Climate for 30 Years. Nothing Worked. This Explains It.
The Most RATIONAL People Are the Most DANGEROUS People in History. Here’s Why.
3/4. " Asked what confidence he had that someone in the chain of command now would intervene to stop Trump (using nuclear weapons), Lewis simply replied: “None.”
“He has consistently purged the military of anybody who he thinks would stand up to him or resist him,” he said. "
2/4. More to the point, several generations of individualist horizontalism has hollowed out any cultural memory of classical leadership on the Left - leaders that decide when a red line has been crossed, lead at the head of the march, and take the consequences - whatever they be.
1/4. The human race is going extinct not because evil men are prepared to destroy humanity, but because liberals refuse to enter into civil resistance to stop them.
5/6. Fascism will only be defeated when the tables of the rich are turned over and revolutionary followers of Christ stand up for the poor and the young in the face of liberals' complicity in their desolation and destruction.
4/6. We do not need "new ways" - but a restatement of the core reality that the rich will never enter the kingdom of heaven through their "pursuit of power".
3/6. ... it is somehow "practising Christians and church leaders" who have to "find new ways to combat those who use and abuse their faith in the pursuit of power."
2/6 And these liberals now have the cheek to say that when their destruction of meaning, ritual, and enchantment leads to the fascistic adoption of the religious dimension of life, ...
1/6 The most "insidious" aspect of the far right's appropriation of christianity is the hollowing out of the notion of the "religious" by several generations of secular liberals who imprisoned "religion" within a subjective private space on the edge of the public sphere.
5/5. rev21.earth/product/suic... Suicide is part memoir, part political reckoning.

4/5. Clearly, the climate system is outpacing any and all commitments to tame it.
3/5.This is disgustingly outrageous as these same 195 countries were in full agreement that the ‘shit would hit the fan’ unless they cut fossil fuel emissions by 2030 to hold global mean temperature to 1.5°C pre-industrial, which they’ve subsequently moved up to 2°C as 1.5°C looks 'in the bag.'
2/5. But nobody wants to deal with it seriously enough, soon enough to make a big difference; only a couple of countries, out of 195 signatories, are tracking Paris 2015 commitments to cut CO2 emissions by 2030.
1/5. SUICIDE
Isolationism by the world’s leading economy in a complex world with a flagging climate system leads to big trouble for life-supporting ecosystems.
1/2. BE EVIL, DO THE WRONG THING
Three systems:
1. The pursuit of power rather than transcendence in the face of death
2. The pursuit of power in a time when this involves playing Russian roulette with human existence
3 The mathematical inevitability of human extinction in the face of points 1 & 2
